Nostalgia - Leak Speakers - 3020??
Amongst the many pieces of equipment long ago sold/exchanged/traded-in, I had a pair of Leak speakers, I think the model number was 3020, but not sure. They had a 'staggered' front baffle, with the tweeter set back from the mid/woofer unit.
Does anyone remember these? I ask only for the nostalgia value.
There is a working pair of Leak Sandwich speakers at my mother's house.
a.g. - any chance of posting a photo? The ones I remember had a silver/grey plastic front panel, it may have been ported, I don't remember. Yes, they were a bit bright. I replaced mine with B&W DM12s, also in a different league.
Oh, and a.g. - sorry forgot to say thanks for the offer.
Unfortunately they're stored at a relative's house so can't take a photo. I think the plastic panel was silvery grey, you're right, with "time delay compensation" (or words to that effect) on it relating to the recessed woofer. I think the port was at the bottom below the woofer, which is why the cabinets were so tall. Good times!
Oh yeah, and the tweeters were purple!
Were they??? I'm a bit colourblind, me! Anyone got a photo to substantiate this?
I'm pretty sure they were anyway. Purple behind a rather industrial looking grill. Could be wrong of course.
I have a pair of 3050s still in use.
I bought them from Laskys Corporation Street Birmingham in about 1980. I think £200 ish. I recall that the 3020 was similar but smaller, and I pushed to boat out. I still have the original manual but not the receipt.
They have a large black cloth front cover that I don't use, that makes them look too massive. As it is, they are pretty big.
Excuse my lack of technical expression, but the rubbery bit where the cones joins the cabinet disintegrated and after much research about 15 years ago, I got in touch with someone at Rank Audio and had them repaired with original parts. They still sound good to me, altough I suspect I would be amazed by how much better new speakers would sound?
Can't work out how to insert a pic here or would do.
Hi Jules1955 - yes, I remember the (discarded) grilles as well now. A nasty plastic moulding, I think. Oh, all this talk is making me want a photo even more - but I don't know how either!

I had a pair of these until a few years ago until I blew one of the woofers and bought a pair of Quad 12L2s to replace them (which are in a different league it must be said).
Big, front ported cabinets. Nice sound but a bit on the bright side.
I think they're still at my father's house if you wanted them and could fix them.
EDIT: Forgot to mention that they only cost £35 from a boot sale, fantastic bargain!
