We think that the Sharp LC19D1E is especially tiny. It's a looker too, the pedestal stand tilting to a useful degree.

It's just a shame the remote is ergonomically poor, the menu system ugly, and that the set searches for analogue channels automatically only when you first turn it on.

The picture, however, is very good. Standard-definition images are upscaled without noise, and DVD pictures benefit from decent detail levels, although colours appear just a little overcooked on Freeview.

It's worth knowing that this Sharp set won't handle a 1080/24p signal, but 720p pictures aren't far behind the best in class.

The sound performance is below average, offering little detail or volume, but if you look past this and the usability issues, you have a good little TV at a tempting price.
