SHOW NEWS: Monitor Audio unveils flagship Platinum speakers

It's day two here at the What Hi-Fi? Sound and Vision Show, and we've just spotted these gorgeous-looking speakers from Monitor Audio.

They're part of the company's upmarket Platinum range and come in a choice of three real wood, piano-lacquered veneer finishes, and the front baffle is upholstered in Black Strathspey leather.

The line-up comprises the PL 100 standmounters (£2300/pair), the PL300 floorstanders (£5000), a meaty-looking centre speaker, the £2300 PLC 350, and the PLW 15 subwoofer. The sub will be available in mid-2008 (price to be confirmed).

Both the PL 100 and PLC 350 are available with optional stands, costing £350 and £250 respectively.

All models in the range use a C-CAM high-frequency ribbon transducer (below) and the company's Ported HiVe II technology.
