ha-ha no bouncing, just a big size 11 positioned incorrectly, then snap!  It made a right good cracking sound.

Are you lot mad

Good grief guys when i read this thread, it almost bought tears to my eyes. About 15-20 years ago i threw my entire collection away. I had been collecting since about 15 stopped buying in bulk at about 32. So probably threw away circa 1000 magazines. I am now trying to rebuild the collection, but I am not the highest wage earner and its proving more of a struggle than i thought. So take pity on me and if your are in the south/south east of England give me a call before you throw them out. (further afield for larger collections). If you are patient I am starting to scan to create a digital archive of everything I get. I would be only to happy to furnish you with a copy on DVD etc. Patient is the operative word as i intend to make a good job of it. I promise not to sell on through ebay etc (in fact as I will guilotine the magazines to ease scanning they will be un-sellable anyway I think).

My stash was sold ten years ago. Audiophile,  Hi-Fi Choice, Hi-Fi World and What Hi-Fi mostly and from 1991 to 2003 (not all of course). It was necessary...that's what the other person I share space with said. Got 50 quid for the lot from an enthusiast. Advertised in local paper. Recovery followed Laughing

I dont keep any magazines, apart from 2 years worth of current Hi-Fi Choice mags ( cheap subscription for some Chord interconnects!), but I'm sure they'll go eventually.

As a longtime reader of Mojo/Uncut/Q/Vox/Word over the years I had a massive pile of freebie CDs/cassette tapes that just got too much. I had ripped them all to my PC over the years, so I flogged a job lot of about 280 discs a year or two back on Ebay. The winner was more than happy with his purchase, there were some crackers in amongst the dross.

A few of my favourite CDs have been peeled from the front of magazines

What are you going to do now you know they are still out to get you?

Well I don't see or hear any evidence to suggest they are now.  I still don't collect any magazines now and don't think I will again now.  I got bored so I came back on.  I still get a little worried at times but just try and think about other things.  It helps me pass the time being on here.  There is no way they can get me now either.

Glad you managed to work out that the WHSV staff climb out of the pages of the magazine at night and come to get you, and that you've taken sensible measures to ensure your safety.

It wasn't quite like that Norman, but thanks.   Smile

I keep all mine (going back to 1990) in my cellar. I often pick one out at random to see just how much technology and prices have changed.

I notice amplifiers, especially good quality ones that often recieved favourable reviews in What Hifi still seem to hold their value on ebay!

RE: Are old hifi mags and brochures worth keeping?

I used to keep all mine but like others storage is just too much of an issue, not to mention the moaning wife !

I have kept all of the Award ones though as it kinda sums up each years products. I also keep the reviews of stuff I have, I find it adds a little interest if you include a copy when selling on your old gear on ebay (as long as they are good reviews of course).

The rest of it - dont throw them out, that's just criminal - I gave some to my local doctors surgery, some to the dentist and some to our local hospital, thankfully I do not visit this lot too much but when I do, I have something other than Womans Weekly (or whatever) to read. And they were all very grateful. Plus it is nice to see other bored men actually enjoying a read for once while waiting !!!
