The Huawei P40 Pro delivers innovative design and premium performance

Whether you want to take brilliant pictures and shoot amazing video, enjoy the latest apps or stream music and movies, the Huawei P40 Pro makes it possible. Flagship performance combines with an ergonomic, waterproof design for an unrivalled hardware experience.

And while you may be on board with the class-leading hardware, you may also have heard about the lack of Google Services. Huawei’s products and services are available in more than 170 countries, and are used by a third of the world’s population but the United States placed Huawei on an entity list restricting American companies, such as Google, from trading with the company. While the restriction may not last, even if it does, the good news is this doesn’t mean you have to be without apps you know and love.

Thanks to Huawei Mobile Services and Huawei’s AppGallery, you can enjoy the latest smartphone experience. HMS offers Huawei Video, Huawei Music, and even Huawei Wallet, to allow you to do everything you’d expect with your flagship handset. These should fill the gap left by core Google apps, though you will need to get used to not having the pure Google app experience, which means no Gmail, Chrome or Google Maps.

But you don’t have to rely on the Google suite of apps: AppGallery is Huawei’s take on the Google Play Store, giving you easy access to many popular apps, including Snapchat, Deezer, Amazon Shopping, Telegram and Zoom. And for some, such as Facebook and Whatsapp, you'll find a handy link to a direct download of the app from the relevant website.

There are gaps in the line-up but Huawei is doing its best to add more apps and games over time, offering big incentives to app developers to bring their apps over to Huawei’s platform.

Another option is Huawei’s PhoneClone feature, which makes it easy to transfer applications directly from your existing smartphone. It works with iOS and Android phones, is free to use, and fast and safe. Your photos, videos and other files will move across, as well as any compatible apps.

Still finding gaps? There’s always the option of APK downloads and web browser versions of apps. Google has maintained a good browser version of Gmail, for example, meaning you can still access, read and answer emails easily without the dedicated app. And there are plenty of other examples.

A recently-launched feature from Huawei will make all of this a whole lot easier. Petal Search - Find Apps is a new search engine for apps, news, images and more, which is now available on the P40 Pro (and other flagship Huawei phones). This search engine scans the Huawei AppGallery, app websites and other trusted third party app stores, to ensure you can easily find any available app, and then simply download it to your phone.

Ultimately, while the experience isn’t the same as an Android phone where all Google’s apps are front and centre, the Huawei P40 Pro does give you plenty of ways of working without most of them

And there’s no denying the quality of the hardware. For music and movies, you’ll have no complaints. The 6.58-inch OLED screen on the Huawei P40 Pro has a resolution of 1200 x 2640, which equates to a pixel density of 441ppi, comparing well with any flagship phone on the market. An upgraded engine helps drive the 90Hz display, with high frame rate, ideal for enjoying the latest games. And the ultra-high network speed plus low delay time, means you can enjoy clear 4K live streaming video.

There’s Bluetooth5.1 wireless audio, plus support for BLE, SBC, AAC and LDAC streaming, and the full range of audio formats, including FLAC and WAV for hi-res audio.

At the heart of the Huawei P40 Pro is the class-leading Ultra Vision Leica Quad Camera. The 50 MP Ultra Vision camera takes in massive light and detail for super clarity and precise details, no matter the complexity of the scene or lighting.

It’s joined by the 12 MP Telephoto camera, which offers up to 50x zoom. A 40 MP Ultra Wide Cine lens helps deliver ultra low-light and ultra slow-motion video, while the 3D Depth Sensing camera creates professional-level bokeh depth effects. A 32 MP Front Camera will ensure pin-sharp selfies, too.

And it’s not just photos. You can record 4K 60 fps high resolution videos with rear and front cameras. Use the zoom to enhance distant details and let the all-new Huawei AIS and OIS ensure your image is clear and stable.

It’s all carried out in ultra-fast-speed thanks to the world’s first integrated 5G SoC, the Kirin 990 5G chipset. Expect highly efficient performance, outstanding graphics and unparalleled image processing on the P40 Pro.

The P40 Pro comes with a choice of two premium colours – black and matte finish silver frost - for an ergonomic, stylish design.

Get high-end performance with photos, music, movies and games, plus - most - of the apps you love, with the Huawei P40 Pro
