Cambridge Audio Optical review

Despite our high hopes, Cambridge Audio's Optical digital interconnect just couldn't cut the mustard Tested at £20.00

Our Verdict

Cambridge Audio's Optical just can't cut the must - especially against simlarly priced rivals

  • It looks quite reasonable

  • Small, congested sound, lacks bass weight, speed, energy

We've used the acclaimed Cambridge Audio DacMagic as part of our review system for some of our tests, so we had high hopes for the company's optical digital cable.

Sadly, it couldn't match the high standards of its stablemate. Compared with the Belkin Silver Series AV50000QP at the same price, this lacks bass weight, speed and energy.

It produces a smaller, more congested and less enjoyable sound. Given that it's a shorter cable, yet costs the same money, its fate is sealed
