F1 2024 season preview

Consecutive one-two finishes for Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez have set the reigning champion on course for a fourth consecutive championship, but all is far from well behind closed doors. Ahead of the Australian Grand Prix the Dutchman has revealed that he's receptive to a move, and Toto Wolff is sniffing around.

Sainz was the only non-Red Bull driver to top a podium last year, and on early evidence Ferrari are the best of the rest again. However, will they come to regret jetissoning Sainz for Lewis Hamilton? The seven-time champion has had an inauspicious start, twice trailing behind George Russell, and even being beaten on debut by 18-year-old Oliver Bearman.

The F1 calendar has been expanded to a whopping 24 races for the 2024 season, which means Verstappen could break his record of 19 Grand Prix victories. Or Mercedes, Ferrari, McLaren and Aston Martin could get their acts together and actually make a go of things this time.

There are no major rule changes, no rookies and no new tracks, and F1 has announced six sprint races: the Chinese, Miami, Austrian, US, Brazilian and Qatar Grands Prix. Read on as we explain how to watch F1 races online and on TV.
