Just saw the update myself - it says for USB playback but I'll see if it works via my Airport Express.

They never advertise that it will play anything (even FLAC) via the AE so you never know!

Cool, worth a try minus the Sonos now then for sure! Still not convinced the UI is as slick but it sounds the part then worth a bash!

Just tried DSAudio out to my AE and DSOTM seemed to be gapless in this configuration too (well no gap that I could hear anyway).  All controlled from my Nexus 4.  DSAudio will even use my Squeezebox Touch as a DLNA client if I don't want to use the Squeezebox interface.  All very clever.

I've updated to DSM 4.3 as well.

Well blow me down! Been using a Mac Mini in place of my NAS for the last week - I really think I prefer using the mini as I prefer the iOS remote app - and I have all my artwork. It's a right ball ache getting the artwork from iTunes to appear on the DS audio app.

awww thanks but really can't be arsed now!

I have even had my new HiFi rack made with 150mm shelves, so Mac mini will sit next to my DAC quietly doing its business without trying to replicate Blackpools sea front! NAS won't fit now.

Another bonus is I am able to stream some 24/96 files via optical - not possible to do this with the NAS via USB I just find Mac Mini > optical > DACso much simpler.

Exacly! But the USB end is to connect in NAS, that way you can have Hi-Res content played by Synology DS Audio into coax of Rega DAC, and after today it plays gapless, so do you really needed to rush in buying the MacBook...? :?

Some times a bit of pacience helps...

I already had a Mac Book & Mac Mini anyway

To do what you suggest Hifi Outlax I would have to buy a s/pdif converter - tbh thanks for your suggestions but they are not someting I don't already know. The Mac Mini (iTunes/BitPerfect) > optical > Rega DAC & control via iOS app with all my artwork/playlists is the simpler solution IMHO and gives excellent results. I have just taken a different route now.
