The Best of the Week – 11/1/08

The February issue of What Hi-Fi? Sound and Vision has just gone on sale, and it's packed with exclusive reviews, including Sony's latest Blu-ray player, NAD's new budget CD player and Arcam's 2.1-channel Solo.

Meanwhile, Ms Editor-in-Chief Newsome has been hard at work in Las Vegas, covering the world's biggest consumer electronics show, CES.

Massive crowds everywhere on the showfloor at CES2008

The show began with a bang when Warner Bros announced it was dropping HD DVD in favour of Blu-ray, and the HD DVD promotion group immediately cancelled its press conference. The implications of that decision rumble on in our Forums, and are likely to continue for some time to come.

We brought you nearly 50 news stories from Vegas, including:

Close inspection for a Samsung super-thin TV prototype

Over in the Forums we now have more than 8600 registered users and 22,000 threads to keep you informed and entertained. The Blu-ray/HD DVD saga is vexing many, and the questions about which TV or hi-fi to buy continue to come thick and fast.
