Chosen by the judges from What Hi-Fi? Sound and Vision, which sponsored the Product of the Year category in last night's Freesat Awards, the Humax beat off rival contenders from Panasonic and LG.
"The Humax is affordable, delivers great picture and sound quality, is an easy way for anyone who already has an HDTV to upgrade to Freesat and includes a 320GB hard disk for recording," said the judges.
Other Awards went to the BBC HD channel (Viewers' Choice), BBC Four (Best evening digital channel), Planet Rock (Best digital radio station), Al Jazeera English (Best digital news channel) and John Lewis (Retailer of the Year).
The Award for best daytime digital channel was shared between Wedding TV and PopGirl.
What Hi-Fi? Sound and Vision Editor Richard Melville (above left) presented the Product of the Year Award to Humax.
