CES 2009: Epson unveils Full HD, 3LCD home cinema projector

Epson PowerLite 6500 UB

The company also says that the multiple chips offer improved colour performance, and points out that single-chip projectors use a spinning colour wheel to create colours, which can suffer from colour break-up.

Epson's Dynamic Iris system with auto light adjustment is featured, specifically for fast moving scenes such as sports broadcasts. A 12-bit 3LCD driver means you'll get 69.72 billion colours too.

Round the back of the unit are two HDMI 1.3a inputs, and S-Video, composite video and VGA inputs. A lower fan speed means reduced noise levels, and a 200W E-TORL lamp is an eco-friendly addition to the range.

The PowerLite Home Cinema 6500 UB hits shops in the US at the end of January and will cost $2999. UK availability and pricing have yet to be confirmed, but check back here on whathifi.com for more details and the first review.
