Irresistible: the Award-winning Sony WF-C510s have dropped to an all-time Aussie low on the final day of Amazon's October sale
Five-star buds for AU$60? You won’t find a better deal this year

It seems good things really do come to those who wait! For the final day of its October Prime Day sale in Australia, Amazon’s unlocked an extra discount on the Award-winning Sony WF-C510 earbuds that brings them to their lowest ever price in Australia – just AU$60.47!
The even greater news is that this deal isn’t Prime exclusive, meaning you don’t need a Prime account to take advantage – though there are of course several benefits to having a Prime membership, and if you’ve not had an account before, you can sign up for a free trial.
Offering incredible bang for buck (and even more so at this price), the Sony WF-C510s sound fantastic, delivering a rich, full-bodied presentation. They’re brimming with features too, and battery life is likewise excellent. Though there’s no ANC here, we found the passive isolation was still great. Do note that the price is only for the black model.
Sony has had a long track record of producing superb pairs of headphones. The WF-C510’s predecessor, the C500, was also a What Hi-Fi? Award winner, and we were unsure if they could ever be improved upon. Clearly Sony didn’t share the same concern, as the C510 has gone all-out on affordability and sound-per-dollar value.
Indeed, these diminutive buds serve up a solid audio presentation that’s full of scale, detail and depth. As we said in our review, “The Sonys do a great job of shifting up the gears in terms of scale and dynamic drive, and this really helps these wireless earbuds connect with the listener.”
You also get a comprehensive selection of features for your AU$61, including multipoint Bluetooth, IPX4 water resistance and even Ambient Sound Control that allows some external noise in – similar to the transparency-like modes you find on the best noise-cancelling headphones. Do note though that there’s no actual active noise-cancellation with these Sony buds.
Battery life is another strong point, with up to 11 hours claimed from a single charge and a further 11 hours supplied by the charging case. Considering some pairs of earbuds costing three or four times as much don’t provide similar levels of stamina, it’s another example of just how good the WF-C510 earbuds are.
I’m not sure how long this deal will last, but considering today is the last day of Prime Day in Australia, I’d wager it will come to a close at the stroke of midnight AEDT – or earlier if they sell out. In other words, I’d be quick if you want to take advantage.

Max is a staff writer for What Hi-Fi?'s sister site, TechRadar, in Australia. But being the wonderful English guy he is, he helps out with content across a number of Future sites, including What Hi-Fi?. It wouldn't be his first exposure to the world of all things hi-fi and home cinema, as his first role in technology journalism was with What Hi-Fi? in the UK. Clearly he pined to return after making the move to Australia and the team have welcomed him back with arms wide open.
