Monitor audio rx1 or rx2 or rx6
hey everyone
i have a question about what speakers to buy,
i curently use a surround set with a set of rx1's in the front and the rest is my harman kardon hkts60 set.
my room is 4meter by 5meter and i use a pioneer vsx 920 amp.
i want to upgrade al my speakers to monitor audio speakers but i am not sure wich are better,
do i put a set of rx2's as front speakers or maybe a second set of rx1's?
i will buy the rx center to.
i will have to use the set without a sub for a few months because i will sel the harman kardon set and dont't have enough money right now to buy the sub.
wil de rx2 be the better choice after all or is it better to buy rhe rx1's?
the little difference in price does not mather.
will the rx2 be just as good to use in a 5.1 set than the rx1 i mean or even better?

If your using your set up purely for movies I would recommend getting some RXFX rears and keep your RX1s at the front with an RXlrc. Then buy a good sub.
its 50% music and 50% movies
In that case I would personally consider RX8s RX6s and RX2s as they will be better at reproducing 2 channel stereo (if that's what you mean by music?). IMO my RX8 speakers are fantastic for 2 channel music. For movies they don't really give much more than RX6. Not heard RX2 although I would imagine they are tighter but with less scale?
aren't the rx6's to big for my room?
its 4by 5 meters
Some people will tell you they are but my room is 5m x 4m also and I do not condider my speakers too big.
and you have the rx8's i see
and they are not to boomy?
do you use a subwoofer?

+1 A decent sized room providing good positioning and room acoustics.
I use a subwoofer for movies but not music. The RX8s produce lots of bass which to some people will be excessive and boomy but IMO its very solid and weighty. They do need a little room to breathe but they are very impressive I think!

Boreingly +1 again Ben. My MS are similar to your MA's I think. Do you use bass traps? I have found corner traps a revelation
No not tried bass traps. What effect do they have on the sound?
Out of curiosity robin did you demo your mezzo 8s against mezzo 6s? I see what hifi felt the 6s were a better all rounder much the same as they said the RX6s were a better all rounder than the 8s. I felt the RX8 had superior sound quality in all areas over the RX6. I wander if you found the same with the mezzos?
I boight my mezzos on sale or return so did no comparisons. I know !! But reviews seem to suggest significant similarities between ma/ms. Bass traps - do take a look at my threads and others. Magic I'd say

As you are planning on getting a sub in the future I'd discount the RX6 unless you have a really big space.
Id be looking at another pair of RX1. I'm guessing that by spending less will mean that a sub will come a bit sooner.
The RX2 might be a better compromise until you fill in the LF with the sub.
