Connecting Marantz CD Player

What's the best way to connect my Marantz CD 6000 KI player to my Onkyo TX NR609 receiver? As I understand it if I use a phono lead I'll be using the DAC in the CD player but if I use an optical connection then the amp's DAC will be used. Is it just the quality of the DAC which will have an effect or is the connection method more infuential? Also, will the Marantz CD player give a better sound than my Panasonic DMPBDT210 Blu-Ray player?
