The best noise-cancelling headphones are great for distraction-free listening and working. But what if you want to remain connected to the world around you while enjoying your favourite music or podcast?
Then you need a pair of open earbuds which let you listen to music or take calls without plugging or covering your ear canal. If that sounds good, here is a $100 discount on the Bose Ultra Open Earbuds, which have plummeted in price to just $199 at Amazon.
The four-star earbuds boast musical and entertaining sound while retaining a good sense of timing. They also have a surprisingly solid, weighty bass – far from a guarantee with open earbuds. Tempted? Get them now while they're discounted.
Best Bose wireless earbuds deal
The Bose Ultra Open Earbuds are perfect for those wanting to stay connected to their environment. That means runners, all-day wearers, or those working in an office (sometimes!). Now with $100 off you'll be hard-pressed to find a better earbud deal right now.
So, what’s this open design all about then? The Bose Ultra Open Earbuds aim to bypass the issues of user discomfort and isolation associated with traditional in-ear buds, instead opting for a design wherein the earpieces sit outside the ear to fire music towards your ear canal.
It's a sort of clip on and play arrangement, with the Open Earbuds comprising a pill-shaped bud, the battery cylinder, and a silicone band or cuff that connects the two sections.
It works, too. Once you get them sited at the right angle, they are so comfy and unobtrusive that it can be easy to forget you're wearing them if your music is switched off.
If it's on, the sound is impressively well-realised. While it won't reach the levels set by the Bose QuietComfort Ultra Earbuds, the musical, punchy and entertaining sound produced is some of the best we've heard from an open design.
You don't get shafted for features, either. aptX Adaptive codec support is on board, as well as around 26 hours of battery life with the charging case. Noise cancelling is off the table, of course, but you do get access to Bose’s spatialised ‘Immersive Audio’, not to mention Bluetooth Multipoint.
Don’t want to follow the herd? Check out the Bose Ultra Open Earbuds for $199 at Amazon.
