Oh, I remember what I wanted to ask you Cno...
How far behind the sofas are your rears? I assume they are about head height whilst standing. I have bookshelves as rears because dipoles weren't suitable in my old house. In my new place with a new sofa, the wall is about two feet back from my ears in my viewing position. I was thinking about moving to dipoles as I don't feel surrounded. I can put them 1.5m-2m apart. Can I get away with this you think?

Looking at the colour of the wall, I don't think you're suffering from a mid life crisis!
Very tasty cno!
I really should stay away from this section of the forum as every time I see someone elses setup I end up feeling jealous as hell and find myself hunting for upgrades when I know I can't afford it
Helluva system cno, one to be proud of
Looks great.
That centre is a monster!

They are sited in the bay window. The back wall cuts in at 90 deg for 1 ft, and then angles back at 45 deg (I think). The speakers are mounted on this angle....a sort of midway between a "side" and a "rear" speaker.
The bottom of the speaker is 56.5 ins from the ground, 8ft 6" apart and they are level with the back of the sofa.....being of a dipole design, the give a diffused sound, that satisfies my requirements. Their height also adds to the atmospheric effect.
I hate advising on this sort of thing for somebody else, but I suspect it would work (David of F.Harvey might give a better idea).

I refer to this room as "the womb", for obvious reasons....Maybe I'm going in the other direction, as the fetal position while playing OTT, seems the way to go.
Very tasty cno!
The Sub nearly got me a tasty divorce...but still here and still fighting!

It only took 37 years to get there.

So, Cno...
How important is a centre to you?
It's not, I just needed something to keep the thing looking balanced!
