Agreed. Unless there's something wrong with your Kuro, or you want a notably bigger screen, I see little value in "upgrading."
You'd be entering the panel lottery by buying another plasma TV. You don't need to look far on this forum to get an idea of the problems owners have experienced with the last few generations of plasma television.
As a VT65 owner, who has seen a calibrated KRP and ZT65 side-by-side, the difference in picture quality is marginal; and the Pioneer still bests the last generation Panasonics for black level.
The 3D argument is little reason to spend such a large amount on a new TV. There's little 3D content worth watching and no immediate future in 3D broadcasting. (And probably no long term future.)
Smart features aren't worth the price of a new TV, either, since a £50 Samsung or Sony Blu-ray player offers wider internet support than a Panasonic television.
Hardware: Panasonic TX-P50VT65B (calibrated); Cambridge Audio Azur 651BD; Yamaha RX-A810; Teac PD-H600; PS3; B&W 601 & 600LCR (series 3); Q Acoustics QAV (rear)
Furniture and Accessories: BLOK Classix 3000 Oak AV Cabinet; Atacama Nexus 6 (atabite metal filled); 3D3 A1112
Couldn't have put it better.
FWIW, I'm keeping my Kuro until it dies on me.
Can you lot shut up, I'm trying to bag myself a Kuro.
All right then.
Go for the latest flavour of the month, and sell your out of date Kuro to BBB.
Sell? Sell? The word you're looking for is give.
Or exchange for a GT50 (once it's returned from being repaired).
Ok judging by the comments I'm making a mistake, looks like she's staying.
Does anyone use one for gaming ? If so any settings you recommend?
OP, I agree with everyone who doesn't have an ulterior motive (BigBernardBresslaw, I'm looking at you). In fact, in another thread on this forum, BBB has said that every single day he regrets his decision to sell his perfectly working Pioneer in order to buy what turned out to be the first of several troublesome Panasonic plasmas. The last reliable year of Panasonic plasmas was 2011; since then, they have been quite variable in reliability - some have been perfect, some have been horrendous.
I couldn't have put it better myself that what StrappedForCash said in post number 5 of this thread. Don't change unless you want a noticeably bigger screen, and I mean at least 60 inches. I'm lucky in that I have 8th-generation and 9th generation Pioneer TVs, and even if I were to win the lottery, neither of them are going anywhere. If you really want 3D (why??) and to game, there are lots of fairly cheap LCD televisions that would allow you to do that. And if you do buy one of the last Panasonic plasmas, many people report problems after long session of gaming on the last two generations of Panasonic plasmas. If you want a HD tuner, buy a fairly cheap (less than £200) Freeview HD or Freesat HD box. Don't sell your wonderful Pioneer KRP500A for what, to me and most on here, seem to be invalid reasons. But hey, it's your decision. And if you insist on ditching it, please give first refusal to BigBernardBresslaw!

I use it for gaming (although haven't played for a couple of months now). I've aso played for up to 7 hours at stretch. I did not change any settings as compared to normal viewing.
Oh, nearly forgot. Stephen Withers, who calibrated all my four televisions, said that my Pioneer LX5090 was the best of them, and that it still holds its own against what has now turned out to be the last generation of Panasonic plasmas. And your 500A is possibly slightly better than my LX5090. Keep it!
Keep your Kuro, as SoSJ said, I really regret selling mine and getting a Panasonic plasma.
