As said previously, you have to be reasonable on what to expect both quality wise and for volume from something so small.
Its a modern trend to combine everything into one to get something of a jack of all trades and master ... . No disrespect to the abilities of the Marantz Micro.
Its the same with latest generation phones etc etc. They all offer a hundred facilities but do some of them not particualery well (imo).
I believe if you want to get the best of something, it usually has to be a dedicated device. Penalty is price/size/lack of convenience.
For all others and thats probably the majority of people, An iphone or similar will be good enough for taking snaps and the marantz Micros will be ample for music/streaming etc.
As for power, the 30watts or so of the Marantz will be enough to go very 'loud' with efficient speakers but what it will probably not do is excert a lot of control over the drivers or be able to sustain peak dynamic levels for long.
Pretty ... and pretty proud of it
Very much the case DM, there is a growing tendency to believe that if a combination goes reasonably loud without obvious distortion then that is all you need.
Manufacturers understand this and while the Marantz designers have squeezed an awful lot out of a tiny system, there are limits. Some of the recommendations for speakers to partner this unit have been ludicrous, though thankfully not in this thread.
We do so many shows in a row,
And these towns all look the same,
We just pass the time in our hotel room
And wander 'round backstage,
Till the lights come up, and we hear that crowd,
And we remember why we came.
From my experience, I'd echo what others have said here: the BX2s are great, but you may find them a bit forward and fatiguing- I did!
The Q Acoustics or Dali Zensor 3 (no favouritism at all!) have a more mellow approach and are easier on the ear. The BX2s also take a few watts to really get going- if a good sound at low levels is important, then the other options may suit you better...
And don't worry about the power ratings too much, the Marantz will drive any of these speakers without a problem. I only have 45wpc at the moment and it's way more than I'll ever need in my terraced house!
Arcam CD72, Marantz PM6004, Dali Zensor 3, via Chord Crimson and QED Revelation. Virgin HD Tivo, Sony BDP370, LG 42" FHD telly.

some peolple said bx2 are not good with the m-cr610 but i look for focal chorus 706 (diapason d'or 2013) and the kef q 300
i don't know what to choose because the kef q 300 has not 90db for my little stereo amplifier
Hi guys, I know it's been a long time, but I forgot to update you all, I'm not sure if you will read this but ah well.
In the end, I changed my mind completely, I was worried about the speakers, due to the mixed opinions on them...
Anyway, in the end I purchased 2 B&W M1's!!!! Yes, these are satellite speakers, but wow! They totally exceeded my expectations, sure they're slightly more expensive than the BX2's, but oh my goodness, they are fantastic!! I have now decided I am going to buy a sub just to help fill in the lower frequencies, which is exciting
I bought an AV Reciever in the end instead of the marantz, I bought the onkyo TX-NR515 to pair with them. What a fantastic machine!
So in the end, I'm really really pleased!
thanks for all your help guys :)
