Been trying it out Samsung the UE46F8000 and I think this is a keeper
Reflections still an issue, due to gloss screen, but not as bad as with the Panasonic for some reason. But I'll still probably remount and tilt the tele down (as was suggested here) a bit to get around that. Most importantly there are no big blooms of light from any of the corners. This is far, far better than the Panasonic offerings. Okay it's a couple of hundred more, but you can see straight away that the picture is amazing and black bars top and bottom are actually black! (setting is on medium) . No grey clouds to ruin the enjoyment. However, this isn't my decision alone (keeping the tele) so when my wife gets in from work later she'll have her say as well. Well, you never know what other people like and dislike. I predict it will be staying though.
Only downside to all of this swapping out is it has cost far more than I (we) ever intended spending on a tele to get a good picture. Quite a bit over budget. But I suppose we're going to have the tv for a good while.
I'll probably post again when we've lived with it a while and after I've had time to fully explore the features. Will then be able to properly identify the pros cons.
