What size is the VT65 screen? Is it 65 inches? 4K content is still a while away.

VT65 is a brilliant TV, just buy it from John Lewis or Richer Sounds (they both price match) for better after sales support, as quite a number of Panasonic TVs have developed some fault or the other, and Panasonic themselves have been unhelpful.

Yes 65" the Panasonic is maybe a bit big but I bet it's brilliant to watch movies on.. Are Panasonic prone to problems then ?

I would buy from richer sounds..

just have to think about this one as it's a lot of money

you not a fan of the lg screen then ? Think that's a led

Yes, LG will be LED-lit LCD. It's very difficult to make a 4K TV from plasma technology. There's only one plasma 4K TV available to buy, to my knowledge:

There are many threads with regards to problems with Panasonic TVs, just a few for example:

Also bear in mind that the 2013 LG 4K TV isn't HDMI 2.0 enabled, so it's not future proof as you may think.

BB - my understanding is the 50 and 30 series pannys have the problems. The 2013( tha last plasmas made by Panasonic) don't have the same problems with IR, within spec and reliability problems. I think Gel has had a new power supply, but I can't find anything on the 2013 models which the VT65 is 1 of the sets the original OP is interested in.

OP as BB has recomended, go to john Lewis, richer sounds or a Panasonic franchise store and you'll get the great service and support if anything goes wrong.

the panasonics have the best blacks since the demise of the wonderful Kuro and no 4k set rivals this to date and if you are into movies, then plasma in my opinion is the best way for this quality. Also, if you are unsure about panasonic then I'd go for a Samsung plasma and not LG.

i would suggest you go and view the sets first but if you are sitting very close, then the 65 or even 55 might be too big. Out if interest, how far do you sit from your set in terms of metres...?

Living room: Panasonic TX-P50VT65B (calibrated), Sky HD 1TB, Denon 3313UD, Denon 2113 AVR, Focal Chorus 716 5.1 & def tech rears, iPad mini, iPhone 5s, Harmony Touch

Bedroom: Panasonic TH-46PZ85B plasma, Sky HD, Cambridge Audio DVD 57.

HDMI 2.0

Check this article:

http://www.cnet.com/uk/news/hdmi-2-0-upgrade-path-where-do-the-manufacturers-stand/

LG's OLED TV is very good, but I have 3 problems with it:

1) It's only 1080p and not 4K.

2) It's very expensive for a 55-inch TV.

3) Being first generation OLED, its longevity cannot be guaranteed, nor do we know of any problems that may crop up in the future.

My issue is not with the problems themselves, but Panasonic's poor after sales support. They hardly seem to resolve issues faced by customers, labelling them as "within spec", and for that reason, I wouldn't recommend even Panasonic franchise stores.

I've had a fan fix which John Lewis and I think Richer Sounds carry out, to make the fan noise quieter, other than that mine is great. I do like the OLED LG but have heard people say it has lazy pixels.

The Sheffield Panasonic store provides great service but I suppose the underlying problem is not with the stores but with panasonic direct as you have explained... however, the 2013 models don't have the same problems as the old sets, so this shouldn't be an issue.

i think all big companies are the same in particular when they have lots of problems, they burry their heads in the sand and use excuses to get out of the situation, it's not good..

Panasonic is close to the LG but the LG does go blacker.  I would look at black levels to see what can match it.

i presume you mean the LG OLED goes blacker? Then I would agree. Not the plasma, the Panasonics have the edge on these sets and any LED 4K?
