RE: Everything 4K

That's filmed in 4k, and 'optimised' for 4k, but it's not actually a 4k BluRay. It will only be 1080p resolution.

Another unfortunate example of 4k marketing hype.

Forgetting the format, would someone really buy such a thing?

Two things about it puzzle me.  (1) Why did it need a director?  (2) The language given is English. (Do fireplaces talk? Are there subtitles?)

Anyway, to save you all some money, here is another one on YouTube (1080p) that is completely free and is also 2 hours long...

... enjoy.

It may have been downscaled to 1080p from a 4K material, but it cannot be 4K as current blu ray players cannot display anything more than 1080p.

Someone has to decide where to point the camera (presumably always at the fireplace), which fireplaces to film, and shot duration (I'm guessing an array of fireplaces is showcased, from heritage examples to modern abstract designs). We may also be treated to a mix of fuel types. There's wood, coal, and other flammable materials. I don't have expertise in this area. In any case, these things don't film themselves!

There may be voiceover and commentary tracks.

No.

I meant blu-ray players but as far as 4K blu-ray discs are concerned, i think this is the start of things to come this year inc. blu-ray players, so i will be keen to know what the electronics giants bring out this year, i'll be watching with interest.

RE: Everything 4K

Well, there were no 4K BDPs showcased at CES this year; though there are reports that 4K BDPs are in the pipeline. We'll have to see what develops.

As for mastered in 4K BDs, as mentioned above, these have nothing to do with native 4K content delivery. I'd be surprised if we see true 4K-capable BDPs and BD releases this year.

We shall see, if their is nothing at the beginning of the year, i wouldn't be surprised if their is something at the end of this year.

I'm sure the titles will be "Alaska", "Story of the Wolf", "Story of the Bison", "Story of the Pigeon" and all of that BS.
