Best 65" tv?
English

Hi, I'm replacing my 52" wall mounted living room tv, and have my mind set on a 65" set.  There's kinda 3 options I'm torn between, the lg 65lm620t, the samsung ue65es8000 or the Panasonic tx p65vt30.  Obviously there's a bit of difference in cost between them and I'd rather spend the least.  It will be connected through av and speakers so sound quality isnt an issue, it's really down to looks and picture quality. Any advice would be appreciated, or if there's any other good models out there!  Cheers

If the room is brightly lit or has large windows, go for the LED.  If daytime veiwing is not important, go for the plasma.

Tbh I was thinking the led sets over the plasma, my living room is pretty bright.  I can't decide between the Samsung and lg, there's about £500 difference in favour of the lg. the only difference I can tell is the Samsung has a slimmer bezel and better motion rate. Any ideas?

Sorry I'm only good for sweeping generalisations Smile Hopefully someone familiar with the sets will be along.  The samsung does have that evolution kit thing that looks pretty cool though.

He'll recommend the 65ST50.

His sister's got a Samsung, which he also speaks highly of. Smile

No one else on the forum has demoed the number of 65-inch TVs as he has (nor does anyone have the number of large TVs, speakers and subs as he owns).

Isn't that the right answer? All the advantages of plasma without the cost of being VT?

I'm not downplaying his experience, expertise, or the frankly alarming range of kit he owns!

I still think he'll recommend the ST, since he's repeatedly stated that he'd buy one if he could afford it.

Then again, I can't speak for anyone else. Only Son_of_SJ can settle this...

And some unadvertised "features" thrown in for the price.

Most plasmas are awefull in a room with big windows.  I tried watching mine in the day last week and I had to pull the curtains, whereas with my old LCD I didn't have to.  If daytime viewing is important, LED is the way forward.  Less glass and brighter backlighting.

Depends. I have absolutely no problems watching TV with Windows open on a bright day. You should be ok as long as there's no direct reflection on TV.

Agreed. My 8th gen pioneer is great in daytime or in the dark. My LCD is no better with direct sunlight on. Maybe this as an area in which pioneer was better than other plasmas?

You're asking this of a man with grand designs on building his own house, with a dedicated cinema room? :shifty:

You can save upto a third if you build your own house, thereby freeing some cash for a decent home cinema.  Wink

Can't find any decent land though. Sad
