I never really got on with my 80i. Hope enjoy the latest iteration. I look forward to reading your thoughts on them, although I am often puzzled why people choose that upgrade path rather than moving further up the chain for a more significant improvement. e.g. people who had the Marantz pm6004 wanting to upgrade to the PM6005. Still, never having done it myself, maybe there is a more significant improvement than my preconceived notions allow for.

Stuff.

I had the Grado 325 and

I had the Grado 325 and really liked it - almost neutral with just a little forwardness, much like my Sennheiser HD565.  I eventually got a HD600, then years later got a Grado PS500.  The PS500 had a better mids and highs than the 325, but also had an upper bass hump that the 325 didn't have.  So maybe the new SR80 is as good as or better than the old 325 (circa 2000-2001).

Headphones arrived ahead of

Headphones arrived ahead of schedule  To be honest the problem I have encountered is i cant wear both headphones at the same time. So I can not switch between them to give an honest opinion. To hear the upgrade

My listening gear a Rocksan K2 amp and CD player joined together with an Atlas equator interconnect. I played What I think is one of the best quality CD's I have . Not everyones choice Granted. Western Film Themes The Essential Album. The Prague symphony Orchestra.   Disc 2  Track 6  "Fistful of Dynamite" Must admit i know this album quite well and heard new bottom end and top end I never really Well ! Was very impressive. With the rest of the album. Then i chose Seth Macfarlane "Music is better than words"  a beautifully produced sounding album  sounded again wonderful .  very revealing

They are identical to the 80!  They have no E on them to distinguish between the Two pairs only a thicker cable and when you look into the speaker enclosure from the outside the speakers are red

Edit 23:07:2014

Was having a loud listen last night to Jonny Lang Album "Wander This World" The Killer Track for me Is "Second Guessing"  The new headphones are  i decided amazing ! In all respects. Bass Trebble clarity and fantastic sound stage. I shall be there again tonight  in my concert seat. Smile Great Buy I have  decided .

So what i am hearing fantastic  but what i always hear with grado is fantastic
