Panasonic's 2010 3D Viera TV, Blu-ray and Freeview HD range in detail

Wed, 17 Feb 2010, 4:00pm

It's been a long and exhausting day getting to know Panasonic's 2010 TV product range in Munich, but there have been some surprises along the way, including pricing on its upcoming Full HD TVs, and the announcement of the company's first LED-backlit LCDs.

So, with no further ado, let's get stuck into those product ranges, and please bear in mind that Panasonic has not yet released UK pricing on all models, but we're pestering our contacts and will update the blog as we get figures confirmed.

HOME CINEMA SYSTEMS

SC-ZT2

Now this sounds as interesting as it looks, offering 7.1 sound from just two speakers. What's more, those speakers are wireless and have 12cm woofers built-in, and the whole system can pass-through Full HD 3D signals. The SC-ZT2 is also compatible with the audio return channel (ARC), so that it can receive your TV's sound through the single HDMI cable.

Soundbars

It's official, Panasonic will be launching its first soundbar products this year. The SC-HTB10 and SC-HTB500 are both expected in Spring and have an HDMI input for easy connection. The SC-HTB500 also has a wireless subwoofer.

The third, and most exciting of the new soundbar range, is the SC-BTB700, which has an integrated Blu-ray drive as well as the wireless subwoofer. Don't expect to see this one in shops until Autumn, though.

Expect pricing and pics of these to follow shortly.

Do we know the difference between the infinite black (G20) and infinite black pro (V20+) yet? If not can any tangible difference be seen in the black performance of the G range to the V range? Based on the information above there does not seem to be much in it?

I'm intrigued by the mention of HDD recording via the USB sockets.  I've been hoping that TV's will start having PVR's built in for a while. and being able to attach an external HDD and record to it is a big step in that direction!

Just to let you know guys, the newest BD 3D of Panasonic will cost appx. 599 euro.

http://www.areadvd.de/news/2010/02/16/erster-panasonic-3d-blu-ray-disc-player-kommt-im-april/

can't wait for new plasma and 3DBD but the latest information about black colour which gets less black after time just disappointed me.

fido87456 - It's worth pointing out that there are some limitations to the HDD recording. You can't record a program while watching something else, even if it's on a different input, and apparently series links won't work. Still, as you say, it's certainly a step in the right direction.

tomdvd - I'd be a little wary of any prices you see quoted for the BDT300, as Panasonic's absolutely adamant that this hasn't been set.

The D25 & D28 Series, sizes 32" & 37" seem to have the same spec. Is the S series Full HD ?  Having both Freeview & Freesat tuners is obviously going to put up the price. With manufacturers producing such slim LED designs I wonder how these will sound ?

The only differences between the D25 and D28 are the design of the pedestal and the finish, so yes, the tech specs are the same. The S-series is Full HD.

I'd be very interested if I could upgrade my 42G15 to freeviewHD, there can't be *too* much difference... OTOH of course Panasonic really want me to buy a whole new TV Sad

The only way of upgrading your existing TV to Freeview HD will be via adding a separate set-top box, sadly.

Does the plasma V20 42" come in black, or are you stuck with silver (aka titanium) which will no doubt date. Also with it being a plasma it has a fan right?....noise!!

I've been waiting for a smaller (19/22 inch) Freesat TV. The article mentions smaller TVs such as the LCD D28 series with 19 & 22 inch options but states that Freesat HD (& Freeview HD)will only be available on the larger (32 & 37 inch) size screens. Does anyone know if they will at least have standard Freesat &/or

Freeview tuners?

Thanks
