Smile

I would expect your test of the Oppo to be extensive and take a few days as you have  already  said Andrew  Do you have a goal/date in mind when you expect to file the report on the forum.

And of course the Mag. Thanks

Re: Oppo BDP-831?

Just to make it clear, I'm not planning on doing an extensive test, but merely a hands-on piece at this stage. No ETA for that yet, because if I miss it I'll have you lot hassling me to get on with it. It'll be posted in the blogs section when it's done, and not before.

And a few days for an extensive test? Don't think so - it's hardly the only thing I have on the agenda at the moment.

Magazine review will be in either the November issue or the Awards issue first tests section, I should think, and will be online around the time the relevant issue is published. I have a feeling the first tests section for November may already be full, so it may well be in the following issue.

Hold the back page!

As an Oppo 83 owner for a month or two now (whose name is not Will!),  it is a delight to use, has great picture quality on BR and DVD, and sound (as long as you have realistic expectations - its not going to beat a good CD player) is also very good.

Its been a Hot Topic on the Forums . I have the feeling some one is trying to pour cold water on the subject.

A pity really nothing like hot gossip. The amount of hits on the thread proves my point.(Now Locked)

There is alot of interest in the Oppo Blu-ray and for good reason. Thats my  view.

Re: Oppo BDP-831?

The Oppo player is not hype, it is the real deal and have had one since they were made availible, so quick and to be able to change settings on the fly is a blessing, load times are very quick also and both SQ and PQ is first class, got loads of DVD-audio and SACD, and it plays them beautifuly, DSD for SACD and PCM for DVD-A...I now only have 1 player whereas before I needed 2 one for region A and one for Region B, but not anymore...

Cheers Oppo and cheers to Henry =o)

Really? Must have missed that...

I have the feeling some one is trying to pour cold water on the subject.

Oh joy, another conspiracy theory. How many times do you need to hear "It won't be reviewed until an official UK version is available."?

That's it. Now there is an official UK version, so it's getting a review. Simple eh, nothing more sinister than that.

A pity really nothing like hot gossip. The amount of hits on the thread proves my point.(Now Locked)

Well it's a good job you're here then, the rest of us would never have heard of it otherwise. Indifferent

Re: Oppo BDP-831?

Try logging out, I think the "Report Abuse" link only works if you're NOT logged in. Which is a bit weird...

There was nothing nasty about it, sarcastic yes, but nasty no (would it have helped if I'd put smilies at the end of each sentence to show what a jolly chap I am?).

I just can't believe, after the previous thread was locked for going round in circles, that the same stupid arguments are being dragged up again.

You're right though, it was called for. Don't see what difference it being a Sunday makes though.

Re: Oppo BDP-831?

No conspiracy, no pouring of cold water - just want to make sure I do a thorough job before presenting any opinions, and believe it or not I do have other things to do, just as the magazine has other products to review.

We're not going to put everything else on hold just to review one Blu-ray player, however good or otherwise it may be.
