Sony 360 Reality Audio will breathe new life into music you know and help you fall in love with music you don’t. Because it gives a true 360-degree soundscape, it creates a more immersive musical experience, making you feel like you’re right there at the live gig or there in the concert hall. And there’s plenty to listen to using the format.

It’s supported by some of the biggest and most critically acclaimed streaming services in the world, so you can get your fix of immersive music wherever you are in the world. And because it works on both speakers and headphones, you can enjoy Sony 360 Reality Audio whether you’re at home or on the move.

Stream via headphones

Getting started is easy. But which streaming services are supported varies slightly whether you’re listening through headphones or speakers.

When you’re listening through headphones, you can enjoy Sony 360 Reality Audio tracks from all kinds of streaming services, from global mainstream offerings like Deezer and Tidal, to more niche services like Nugs.net (which specialises in live recordings with a heavy US focus). Just download the relevant app to your smartphone or tablet, subscribe to the supported tier, and you can enjoy Sony 360 Reality Audio tracks through any headphones.

You can personalise the listening experience to your exact ear shape, too, providing you have a pair of 360 Reality Audio-compatible Sony headphones, like the new, five-star Sony WF-1000XM4. Download the Sony headphones Connect app and connect it to the compatible Sony headphones. They can then capture an image of your ear shape to create a personalised analysis. Want to take it a step further? Download the Artist Connection app and you can enjoy personalised immersive music samples and exclusive live performances from acclaimed artists – this is essentially a third-party “sampling” app which lets you experience 360 Reality Audio RA separate to any branded streaming service, and includes some video content. While the catalogue is a bit limited, it is free, and doesn’t require you to input credit card details like free trials for HiFi tiers of some streaming services.

Listening through speakers? You can enjoy thousands of Sony 360 Reality Audio tracks from Amazon Music HD, Deezer, Tidal and niche service Nugs.net. You’ll also need a compatible 360 Reality Audio speaker, like the Sony SRS-RA5000 or SRS-RA3000.

Connect both it and your mobile device to the same wi-fi network, and set up your speaker via the Google Home or Alexa app. (You'll also need the relevant streaming app, complete with a subscription to the supported tier.) Then a tap of the ‘Cast’ icon within the streaming app will start streaming Sony 360 Reality Audio tracks to your speaker. You can control playback from your smartphone, putting full power at your fingertips.

There are already thousands of songs available in Sony 360 Reality Audio, and the music catalogue is growing day by day. It’s the closest you can get to a live performance without actually being there.
