Prime Day 2026 is finally here, and while it’s set to last a whole week, Amazon’s kicked the event off with a bang, offering a solid saving on one of the best Mini LED TVs money can buy.

You can grab the 55-inch Sony Bravia 7 Mini LED TV for £1099 at Amazon right now. That’s a £400 saving on its regular price and the cheapest we’ve ever seen it retail for.

And if, for whatever reason, you are dead against getting an OLED TV as your next set, it is a fantastic saving on a TV we openly describe as “a marvel”.

But, there is one issue, stopping us from wholly recommending it: you can get a Sony Bravia 8 OLED for only £100 more.

There are reasons you may want to pick the Bravia 7 over its OLED sibling – chief of which is its higher peak brightness, which makes it better if you plan to use it in a very bright room.

But for serious movie fans, the Bravia 8’s OLED panel makes it a better option for one key reason: its ability to deliver perfect blacks.

Yes, the Bravia 7 is very good by LCD standards, but it's still a backlit TV, which, as we’ve said many times before, means it can’t match an OLED's perfect black level. Put them head-to-head and the Bravia 8’s perfect blacks are immediately apparent and convey an added depth and level of contrast.

This isn’t a dig against the Bravia 7 specifically; it’s just a constant theme we’ve experienced when comparing Mini LED sets to OLEDs. But it’s especially true with the Bravia 8, which, despite coming out two years ago, remains a top performer in its class.

Highlights include wonderfully accurate colours and a general focus on consistency that helps it deliver a truly immersive home cinema experience. And that’s why, unless you really don’t want an OLED, we’d still recommend it over its Mini LED sibling.

We all love a bargain, which is why many of you may be looking for a stellar Prime Day deal on an LG C5.

So, it’s a no-brainer, right? Time to click that magic checkout button and treat yourself to a shiny new OLED?

It would be all too easy to say yes, as those are solid prices on very good TVs. In fact, the 83-inch LG C5 deal is the best price we’ve seen on the giant OLED.

But, if you want my advice, I’d not pull the trigger yet, as I think the C5 will go down in price even further during Prime Day.

There are two simple reasons why. First, because while those are very good prices, outside of the 83-inch deal, we’ve seen all the other sizes slightly cheaper in the past. Not always by much, but £50 saved is a big deal for a lot of us right now, given the current cost of living crisis.

Second, because Prime Day tends to bring particularly impressive deals on C-series sets. Last year, we saw prices for the older C4 hit record lows across multiple sizes during Prime Day, and my instincts tell me the same will happen for the C5 this year.

Which is why, with Prime Day not even officially started, my advice right now is to wait and see what the actual event brings to the table. After all, you only have a few more hours to wait…

Searching for floorstanders this Prime Day week? You're in luck!

The Q Acoustics 5050 are some of the finest mid-price floorstanders you're likely to find, and while their makers took a risk in reinventing its new 5000 range at a shifted price point and a new sonic signature, it paid off handsomely. That What Hi-Fi? Award wasn't given for nothing, you know.

They've just got a lot more affordable for Prime Day, too, but not at Amazon. The Q Acoustics 5050 are down to £999 at Sevenoaks, Richer Sounds and Peter Tyson, knocking £300 off what was already a very competitive price and representing the lowest we've yet seen for the five-star floorstanders.

We've been suitably enamoured of the Q Acoustics 5050 for a while now, so much so that they're still our mid-range pick on our list of the best floorstanding speakers.

As a member of the 5000 range, the 5050 shares a lot in common design-wise with the Award-winning Q Acoustics 5040. The main difference is larger twin mid/bass drivers (15cm vs. 12.5cm) and a larger cabinet making the 5050 a better choice for bigger listening spaces.

Despite the increase in size, there’s no sign of overreaching for the Q Acoustics towers. As we wrote in our review: “There is no questioning the clarity and insight on offer. Like their junior siblings, these speakers dig up plenty of detail.

“They can delve into complex productions such as Steve Reich’s Music For 18 Musicians and deliver clear insights. They never sound confused and manage to keep hold of a multitude of instrumental strands without losing track of the musical whole. That is not an easy thing to do.”

The 5050 are particularly impressive with bass, remaining composed and unstressed even at high volume. In short, they offer some of the most controlled and articulate bass we have heard from a tower at this level.

The 5050 do need some care with partnering, though, especially as their presentation can be a touch forward. While the 5050 will provide a decent sound with budget amplifiers, we recommend looking at more talented options – Arcam’s A5 and A5+ or the Cambridge Audio XA81 are good starting points.

Partner those with a decent source such as the Arcam CD5 CD player or Rega Planar 3 record player and you have a heck of a system on your hands.

Smartly finished and a delightful listen, the Q Acoustics 5050 offer grace and power at a really competitive price. With £300 off at Sevenoaks, Richer Sounds and Peter Tyson, they're more tempting than ever before.

It's a question we're asked all of the time, and while we're seeing TV manufacturers attempt to fix the issue with built-in dialogue enhancement features, we think there's a clear answer to this problem.

An external sound device, namely a soundbar, is one of the most crucial – and easy – TV upgrades that you can make.

Not only will you get clearer dialogue, but many soundbars also offer deeper bass, improved dynamics, and, if you opt for one that supports it, Dolby Atmos.

With Amazon Prime Day officially less than 24 hours away, we expect to see plenty of discounts on several models featured in our best soundbars list.

However, if you're simply looking for a quick, easy, and reliable recommendation, then you've come to the right place.

I've selected three soundbars – an affordable option, a mid-range choice, and a premium soundbar package – all of which have been thoroughly tested to solve your sonic woes by our expert team of reviewers.

Just be warned, it's early days, so prices may drop further during the Prime Day sales as the week progresses, but these are the top savings I've spotted in the initial round of discounts.

This sub-£100 marvel of a soundbar is also the most versatile option on this list.

Designed to be used with smaller TVs or on a desk with a computer monitor, the Creative Stage Pro is a charming, super-affordable, and effective soundbar.

It ditches a fancy feature set and instead opts for a straightforward approach to improving sound, and we think that was a clever move from Creative.

That simplicity extends to the setup process; a single cable links the soundbar to the included subwoofer, and there are options to connect the soundbar to your TV via an HDMI ARC or optical connection.

We think it's especially talented when it comes to voices, as our full review notes that it outputs "crisp, detailed and emotive dialogue", which is the ideal solution to stave off muffled TV sound.

We reviewed it at £130, but Overclockers UK has it down to just £95.

Mid-range: Sony HT-S2000

Sony's entry-level Dolby Atmos soundbar is my choice at the more affordable end of the market.

This compact, fuss-free soundbar sports an easy plug-and-play setup, and it produces a sound that is guaranteed to be leagues ahead of your TV's built-in speakers. Not only that, but the inclusion of Bluetooth 5.2 ensures that streaming music to the unit is a breeze.

Generally speaking, the HT-S2000 ticks a lot of boxes, especially for the money. It serves up punchy dynamics, impressive directionality, and superb clarity, which results in an impressively cinematic sound despite the soundbar's modest footprint.

When it comes to voices, we stated that the HT-S2000 delivers "crisp and clear dialogue" and praised its ability to dig up an impressive amount of sonic subtleties. This means that voices not only sound clearer, but also more textured, tonally varied, and realistic.

We reviewed it at £349, but it can be found for just £299 at Amazon right now; that's a tidy £50 saving on a five-star soundbar.

Premium: Samsung HW-Q990F

This Award-winning soundbar package has been discounted so deeply that we think it makes a compelling mid-range option for those scouting out a new 'bar to sit below their TV.

This package includes a soundbar, two surround speakers, and a subwoofer, making it a full surround sound package. The trick here is that all components connect wirelessly, making it a neater solution compared to a traditional wired surround sound package.

The system produces a hugely spacious and detailed sound, with the included subwoofer being a particular highlight. It produces a rich, powerful, and tonally varied bass that blows many competitors out of the water.

On top of this, the HW-Q990F is no slouch when it comes to dialogue. We found it presents "natural and detailed voices" in our review, and if you want even more clarity, then Samsung's Active Voice Amplifier Pro feature is on board to grant your wishes.

We reviewed it at a hefty £1699, but it can currently be found on Amazon for just £749 (a staggering £950 saving).

If you need a good TV, but are tight on cash, then there’s only one TV deal I’d recommend right now.

Specifically, Argos's current deal on the TCL C6KS. The deal lets you grab the Award-winning 50-inch TCL C6KS for £343 (save 20 per cent) when you use the TCLTV20 discount code at checkout.

Why this TV in particular, especially with Prime Day about to start at the stroke of midnight? Because it’s the best cheap TV money can buy, even at full price.

Offering a Mini LED panel, the set delivers the best performance we’ve experienced on a TV at its price. Delivering atypically high, but controlled peak and operating brightness levels, solid HDR support and a nicely balanced picture that punches well above its weight, you won’t find better set this cheap.

That’s why the TCL C6KS earned a five-star rating when we tested it and then went on to win the best budget 48-50in TV trophy at the 2025 What Hi-Fi? Awards.

It’s also why, even now, we stand by our verdict: “TCL’s latest ultra-affordable TV is even better than its specs suggest and fixes pretty much everything that was wrong with its predecessor. The price seems like it must be too good to be true – but it isn’t.”

Our only word of warning is that, as is always the case at this end of the market, there are some compromises. For gamers, its framerate is capped at 60Hz, so you won’t be able to run a current-generation games console or PC at full speed.

There is also some minor motion blur during particularly animated scenes. And finally, again, like all TVs at this price, its speakers are middling. You should budget for a soundbar if you don’t already have one, as a result. We’d recommend the Sony HT-SF150 / HT-S100F featured as the top budget option in our best soundbars guide, if you don’t currently have one.

These are the best cheap TVs we’ve tested

We rank the best soundbars money can buy

Prime Day 2026 doesn’t technically start until midnight, but that hasn’t stopped retailers from dropping a load of awesome early OLED TV deals.

And of that list, one in particular stands out; the first significant saving we’ve spotted on the five-star Samsung S99H.

That’s right, despite it just launching and receiving a glowing review from our experts mere weeks ago, Richer Sounds has already cut a significant wedge off the 55-inch S99H’s asking price.

You can grab the 55-inch Samsung S99H for £2149 right now, if you use the TRADE250 code at checkout.

But the savings don't stop there. You can then save a further £250 by claiming cashback from Samsung. That lets you get a latest generation, flagship QD-OLED for £1899, which is undoubtedly a tempting proposition.

If you’ve read our S99H review, then you’ll likely at the very least be tempted to snap one up – and we get why. As our experts said in our review:

“With a stunning, contrast-rich picture, improved sound system and a feature set that blows most other TVs out of the water, the S99H is the flagship OLED to beat for 2026.”

And if you want the best new OLED TV currently available, and don’t mind paying for it, then this deal is easy to recommend.

But, for those not 100 per cent committed to buying the latest hardware, there is one minor fly in the ointment. Specifically, the Award-winning, 55-inch Sony Bravia 8 II is also currently discounted.

Head to Richer Sounds and you can grab our 2025 Product of the Year winner for £1699. Yes, that’s not the best price ever on the set, but it’s a solid saving on its £2499 launch price. It also makes it slightly cheaper than the Samsung.

Samsung’s latest flagship OLED TV is better in some ways. Running the two sets head-to-head this year, the S99H is a smidgeon brighter and offers minor upgrades in some of the areas we are about. But it is still a very close race between the two.

Which is why we currently think the Bravia 8 II is better value for most people. Only serious performance chasers who insist on only buying the latest hardware will be better off spending that much extra for the S99H.

Amazon Prime Day has barely even started yet, and already this might be the best hi-fi deal you're going to find all week. The JBL SA550 Classic stereo amplifier has absolutely plummeted from from £1749 to an unbelievably low £499 at Peter Tyson, meaning you could save £1250 on some proper hi-fi pedigree.

We'll repeat that. £1250. It boggles the mind.

You'll have to head over to Peter Tyson to take advantage, but that doesn't matter! We're looking for the best deals across all major retailers during the Prime Day period, so don't think that we're restricting ourselves to Amazon-only.

Best JBL SA550 Classic early Prime Day deal

The JBL SA550 Classic integrated amplifier blends stylish retro appeal with great build quality and, at this level, a stunning low price. The amp feels solid to the touch, while the front panel's brushed fascia contrasts neatly with its exterior wooden panels to add an air of luxurious desirability.

Its power output is rated at 90W into 8 ohms, with the amp favouring Class G amplification and twin internal power supplies for greater efficiency.

In terms of connectivity, the JBL amp offers aux and headphone inputs at the front, while the back panel houses a set of speaker terminals, four analogue inputs (including a moving magnet phono stage for a turntable), and three digital inputs, which feed the amp’s ESS ES9038K2M DAC chip.

There's also Bluetooth connectivity with support for aptX Adaptive if you have a compatible source.

It's not like JBL is giving away a white elephant here, either. During testing, we found the SA550 Classic incredibly easy to get along with thanks to its smooth, cohesive and weighty delivery. To quote from our review: "thanks to the amp’s smooth nature, high frequencies never come close to sounding uncomfortable, even with particularly poor recordings."

It's capable of being a lot of fun, too. A track such as Empire State Of Mind by Jay-Z and Alicia Keys goes hard thanks to the JBL's enthusiastic reproduction of the track’s thumping bassline, and despite sounding a little fat, it still does more than enough to capture the song's propulsive energy.

We thought the JBL was a good shout at its full asking price, but now it's crashed down to £499 at Peter Tyson, we think it demands an even closer look. More than £1000 off? Bafflingly outrageous value. Has the best Prime Day discount just arrived, and it wasn't even on Amazon? Quite possibly.

I've heard a lot of premium wireless headphones in the past few months. No, seriously, when I say a lot, I mean a lot.

The Sony WH-1000XM6, the Sennheiser Momentum 5 Wireless, the Apple AirPods Max 2, the Sony 1000X The Collexion, the Bose QuietComfort Ultra Headphones (2nd Gen), the Bowers & Wilkins Px8 S2; the list just goes on and on.

And yet, this Amazon Prime Day, I would pick one pair above all others. Those aforementioned headphones are all excellent, sometimes spectacular, in their own respective ways, but one pair stands head and shoulders above the rest: the Sennheiser HDB 630.

At £400 / $500 / AU$1000, they're not cheap, and discounts aren't exactly common, but if you see a drop this Prime Day, across any of the major retailers, I would urge you wholeheartedly to snap it up while you can.

In fact, even if they don't budge an inch, I'd still be urging you to get hold of the best wireless headphones Sennheiser has ever made.

It's going to be a crazy twist of fate if some of the best wireless headphones you can currently buy this Prime Day aren't currently available on Amazon. Well, it's their loss.

In truth, forget Prime Day and Amazon altogether. Forget discounts and price cuts, and even brand loyalty. Just remember one key fact: if you want the best premium noise-cancelling wireless headphones, you want the Sennheiser HDB 630. It's that simple.

Why? Well, mainly because these are sound-first headphones that have pushed the needle for how good Bluetooth over-ears can sound at this sort of price. The HDB 630 are exceptionally smooth and natural-sounding headphones, with a beautifully realised bass reproduction, a sweet, immersive mid-range and a crisp, sharply defined treble.

They're fun, dynamically adept and musically expressive, walking that tricky tightrope between analysis and entertainment with sure-footed precision.

Part of that quality comes from the Sennheiser's super-clever BTD 700 USB-C dongle that you simply plug into your device’s USB-C port to give it aptX Adaptive superpowers.

That means that any source device, including your iPhone, gains aptX Adaptive hi-res streaming up to 24bit/96kHz, even if it wouldn't natively support it. That is, quite simply, an absolute game-changer, and it works terrifically.

Plus, you get wired listening via 3.5mm and USB-C-ended cables, around 60 hours of battery life with ANC switched on, very solid noise cancelling, a luxuriously comfortable fit and very solid voice calls, all of which combine to make an exceptional all-around package.

We get that Prime Day should be all about Amazon and, of course, all about deals, but the HDB 630 are so exceptional that all sort of goes out of the window.

Discounts don't really matter (although they're great to see). Retailers don't matter. What matters is that, if you can, you pick up a pair of some of the best-sounding premium wireless headphones we've ever heard.

Prime Day Predictions: the What Hi-Fi? team’s hopes, fears and dreams for Amazon Prime Day

Ah, the humble soundbar. You might not think from first glance that they are anything special. After all, their unassuming designs are usually built to blend into your living room in front of your TV virtually unnoticed.

But these compact champions can play a crucial part in your home cinema setup. If you have the right model, your TV’s (almost certainly) lacklustre audio can be upgraded to deliver immersive yet detailed sound with clear voices.

As with any piece of home cinema kit, there is a huge variety when it comes to quality and price. If you are looking on the more affordable end of the spectrum (take the Creative Stage Pro, for instance), you will rarely find Dolby Atmos support. For those who have bigger budgets, you will find more premium models with the specifications to match.

So which models are worth your time? We have tested oodles of bars over the years since the category emerged in the 2000s, so we know which soundbars are genuinely good sonic performers.

With Amazon Prime Day almost upon us (it officially runs from the 23rd to the 26th June), we have already spotted some stellar bargains on top-performing soundbars. All the models below have been thoroughly tested by our experts, and have achieved either a four or five-star rating.

These are the best budget bars on the market

It’s going to be quite the day for the UK tomorrow.

Not only are England taking on Ghana in the FIFA World Cup for their second group stage match, but temperatures are set to jump to a scorching 34 degrees.

All of which makes for a perfect opportunity to watch the game in the garden. And one of our top portable projectors just got a discount: the Xgimi Vibe One is now only £179 at Amazon.

Only Prime members can access this price, but next-day delivery is included, so you can be sure the Xgimi projector arrives in time for the big game. You’ll have to be quick, though, so you don’t miss the next-day delivery cutoff!

The Xgimi Vibe One is one of the cheapest projectors we have tested, but don’t let that put you off – the mini marvel offers a detailed, natural-looking picture for the money as we saw during a viewing of Civil War.

“This naturalness is present in the rendering of faces, too,” our Xgimi Vibe One review reads. “As the shaken journalists attempt to collect themselves in the car after a particularly traumatic experience, the projector digs up the smaller details in their faces despite the dark interior. Skin tones also appear balanced and natural, without fading into the background or looking over-vibrant.”

Motion handling is surprisingly natural, too, which should bless World Cup matches with smooth, realistic movement.

We made sure to test the Vibe One outside, of course, and did find that it struggles in bright sunlight. It should be fine for the 9pm kickoff, though, and will of course always work indoors.

Wherever you choose to watch, the Vibe One can project an image of up to a whopping 150 inches. It has a native resolution of 1080p, with a claimed 250 ISO lumens of brightness.

The built-in Google TV provides access to Netflix, Apple TV, Amazon Prime Video, and Disney+. The all-important BBC iPlayer is missing, however, but you can cast from your phone or plug in a streaming device into the HDMI port.

It’s also worth noting that the battery life only reaches a maximum of 1.2 hours in Eco mode, but this can be remedied with an extension lead or a half-time recharge. At just 1.4kg, the Vibe One is extremely portable and can easily be carried around should you wish to change location.

The Xgimi Vibe One has some limitations given its low price tag; but, for £179 at Amazon, it delivers a picture far more detailed and cinematic than you might expect. If you’re after a cheap, last-minute projector for the World Cup that is reliable on the picture front, then the Vibe One is a great choice at this price.

You will recognise, no doubt, the feeling of watching a film on TV and not quite being able to make out the dialogue. Fast-paced action can also sound a little flat, with big explosions making barely any impact. Pretty disappointing, right?

Luckily, there is a quick fix to those sonic frustrations. Soundbars offer a great solution to your TV’s lacklustre audio quality, especially if you are short on space and working on a limited budget.

And right now, to kick off Amazon Prime Day, one of the best budget soundbar systems we have tested is available at a great discount. The Award-winning Hisense AX5125H has dropped from £250 to £199 at Currys. The last time we saw it drop to this price was back in December, and it’s still the lowest price we have spotted on the five-star model.

When we had the Hisense AX5125H in our test room, we were presented with a cohesive, spacious sound that was a huge step up from the TV’s built-in speakers. Watching Civil War, as the White House is swarmed by army personnel, bullets whizz from the front to the back of the room and even behind the listening position with brilliant accuracy considering this soundbar’s low price tag.

Dialogue is also made clearer and more expressive, with only the busiest sections causing voices to become a touch muffled.

If you want a much-needed injection of weight and energy into your movies, the Hisense model can deliver. As we say in our review: “Explosions and deep gunfire have good impact and solidity, and there’s just about enough tonal expression for bassy soundtrack elements to sound reasonably musical.”

There are no up-firing drivers with the AX5125H’s surround speakers, so we don’t get a full dome of sound from the Dolby Atmos system. Still, the height effects appear quite deep into the room and the overall delivery is immersive thanks to the two up-firing drivers in the soundbar.

In terms of physical connectivity, you will find an HDMI input and HDMI output with eARC. There is also an optical digital input, a USB 2.0 port and a 3.5mm jack.

The system is easy to set up as well. The two small surround speakers can be placed on stands in your space or you can wall-mount them. The soundbar is compact as well, measuring 6 x 92 x 9cm (hwd), and should sit in front of most TVs without blocking the display. Finally, the subwoofer’s dimensions (29 x 21 x 30cm) make it easy to place next to the TV in the test room without feeling overly cramped.

If you are looking to upgrade your TV’s speakers without breaking the bank, the Hisense AX5125H is a great choice, especially for £199 at Currys.

If you're looking for a quick, easy, fuss-free setup to minimise chances of missing a match, then it's hard to look past the Anker Nebula Mars 3 Air.

With a built-in battery, speakers and wi-fi, it’s entirely self-contained, so once you’ve got it in position, there’s no need to add any other kit to get it up and running – just fire up the Google TV operating system and away you go. It’ll even automatically adjust the picture to make sure everything looks as it should.

The handle makes it easy enough to carry around, and it's well-built enough and nicely designed that it'll look good in any room of the house.

The maximum picture size is 150 inches, but we find the Mars 3 Air loses some of its brightness at full size. We recommend an image size of between 70 inches and 90 inches for the best balance of brightness and scale.

And the all-important picture? A step above the rest at this size and price.

"For starters, we’re really struck by how sharp and detailed everything looks," our Anker Nebula Mars 3 Air review reads. "Despite the projector using (like all portable models) a fairly small lens aperture, every pixel and texture of a good HD source is faithfully rendered, adding up to a really dense, smooth, cinematic finish to the picture with little evidence of visible pixel structure."

Audio performance is also a cut above, with the pair of 8-watt speakers producing an expansive and well-rounded soundstage with a solid bass presence. We'd love a bit more volume, but the Mars 3 Air doesn't disappoint on the audio front.

There's also a built-in battery rated for 2.5 hours of mains-free playback. This will depend on your brightness and volume settings, of course, but this should be plenty long enough for a World Cup game.

As a World Cup projector, the Anker Nebula Mars 3 Air is compact, feature-packed and bright enough to be used outside. It's also much more affordable now, thanks to a £211 discount at Amazon for Prime members.

The Bang & Olufsen speakers support Dolby Atmos and DTS: X, and the sound is clean and detailed in the midrange and treble. We would like more punch in the low-end, but it’s still a very commendable sound for the price.

Some things just go well together. Fish and chips. Batman and Robin. And, of course, AirPods and Amazon Prime Day.

Apple's perennially popular earbuds rarely get discounts, but make up for this with head-turning drops during sales events such as Prime Day.

Well, ladies and gentlemen, the time is here. The AirPods 4 with ANC are now down to £125 at Amazon, the lowest price we've seen yet.

You'll need to be a Prime member to get this saving, but the non-deal price of £132 is not too shabby and still a drop from the previous low of £139.

The concept of active noise cancellation (ANC) with an open (no tips) design certainly raised some eyebrows – but we shouldn't have put it past Apple to forge yet another technological breakthrough.

Instead of using eartips to form a seal, Apple has targeted low-level frequencies to cancel out. The result is impressive, with engine rumbles, aircon sound and traffic rumbles all melting away.

This being Apple, though, ANC is far from the only feature on board. Spatial audio, dynamic head tracking, Bluetooth 5.3 support, and an IP54 dust- and waterproof rating are all part of the package, along with Apple's seamless connectivity with iOS devices.

The charging case is the smallest yet, with a speaker for the Find My function and support for wireless charging. The nifty Adaptive Audio, Conversation Awareness and Transparency features are also included, giving you plenty of options if you still want to hear parts of the world.

Battery life is 30 hours, including the case, though be warned that this drops sharply to 20 hours with ANC turned on.

And the sound? More detailed, powerful and overall more entertaining than their predecessors. As our Apple AirPods 4 with ANC review reads: "There’s clarity and detail, agility and balance, along with a focus on voices that make them immediately appealing to listen to."

If you've got the budget, we recommend the Apple AirPods Pro 3 for a step up in sound quality and ANC, though you'll have to shell out an extra £50 for them.

If not, the AirPods 4 with ANC are a great value proposition with just the right amount of compromise. If you're not a fan of eartips but still want the benefits of ANC, then the mid-range AirPods are a no-brainer – especially for £125 at Amazon.

AirPods Pro 3 vs AirPods 4 with ANC: which of Apple's noise-cancelling earbuds will suit you best?

Prime Day is no longer just a day these days, with the event slowly growing to span four days with several early deals to boot.

However, Amazon have pulled out all the stops for this early discount. There's still nearly a week until the event officially starts, but they've already slashed the price of their 65-inch Amazon Ember QLED to £600 for Prime Day members.

For context, we reviewed the new QLED at £1050 only three months ago, so that's an incredible 43 per cent drop!

It's perfect timing if you've been watching the World Cup and thinking it's time for an upgrade – at this price, the Ember QLED really is a great value TV.

There was once a time when we wondered if Amazon could make a worthwhile TV, but the e-commerce giant has proved itself capable of making compelling, affordable TVs in a rather cutthroat budget market.

The Amazon Ember QLED is one such offering. It brings several small but worthwhile improvements on the company’s previous QLED to create a solid TV.

This includes a greatly improved panel, which now features 160 dimming zones and, according to Amazon, can go 60% brighter than its first-generation QLED.

All of which adds up to an impressive picture performance. As our Amazon Ember QLED review reads: “There is a nice sense of sharpness and definition to the outline of subjects, which, when paired with the improved contrast thanks to the inclusion of double the dimming zones, creates a solid, three-dimensional effect.”

What was most surprising, however, was the amount of dark detail on offer – even more so than the Mini LED TCL we were comparing with.

The Ember QLED’s 24W speakers aren’t the most technically advanced on the market, but we were pleasantly surprised by the TV’s audio. Amazon doesn’t try to push boundaries where it lacks the capabilities, and the sound is smoother, fuller, and much nicer as a result.

The Fire TV OS is, of course, the bread and butter of this TV. It features pretty much every streaming app under the sun and has built-in Alexa functionality.

We also commend Amazon for its all-encompassing approach to HDR – HDR10, HLG, HDR10+ Adaptive and Dolby Vision IQ are all on board, which even some premium TVs lack.

Normally, we recommend the TCL C7K at this price level; it boasts a Mini LED screen with a whopping 1008 dimming zones and 120Hz support. It is currently £800, however, making the Amazon Ember QLED quite the enticing option thanks to its hefty discount.

In our review, we predicted that the Ember QLED would get a substantial reduction come Prime Day that would make the TV well worth considering. Well, the time has finally come – the QLED is now a huge £450 off at Amazon.

The World Cup has long been a great excuse to upgrade your TV.

But what if you wanted to go big? As in really big?

Well for that, you'll want to go for a projector. And we've got just the one. The Nebula X1 is now down to £1519 for Amazon Prime members, which is easily the lowest price we've seen.

The 4K projector can reach a claimed picture size of 300 inches and is portable enough to take into the garden for World Cup matches outside – you'll just need an extension cable long enough.

The Nebula X1 has earned a spot amongst our best outdoor projectors, and while expensive, it makes up for it with some impressive specs.

The triple-laser X1 projector boasts 4K resolution, a claimed 3500 ANSI lumens of brightness and, of course, a claimed image up to 300 inches in size. So it's much better equipped for less-than-ideal viewing conditions than a lot of cheaper models, especially in ambient light.

While it's primarily designed for indoor use with a constant mains power connection required, it is portable enough to carry around and comes with a handle. It also helps that it's super easy to set up, thanks to Nebula's AI Spatial Adaptation auto set-up that includes real-time autofocus, keystone correction, ambient light adaptation and wall colour adaptation.

With an optical engine and lens array that tilts up to 25 degrees, the X1 is also quite flexible with placement, able to go on a projector stand, table, the floor or other spot.

And the all-important picture performance?

"In terms of colour, the X1 keeps the picture vibrant and engaging," our Nebula X1 review reads. "With the Antarctica episode of Seven Worlds, One Planet on 4K Blu-ray, the gentoo penguins preparing to dive into the ocean are detailed and vivid. Their bright red beaks and fluffy feathers look tangible and textured."

We did notice that the image was a tad too sharp, but this can be easily remedied by reducing the Sharpness setting by a few points.

Where the X1 really stands out from the crowd, however, is the audio. The 2.1 speaker configuration is rich and detailed by projector standards, and in a rare case for projectors, it packs a punch in terms of bass.

When it comes to streaming, the built-in Google TV comes with Netflix pre-installed and the option to download Channel 4, Disney+, YouTube, Apple TV, Netflix, ITVX, Amazon Prime Video and more. There's no BBC iPlayer, but you can still cast those World Cup matches from your phone.

For an entry-level 4K projector that can also be used to watch World Cup matches under the stars, the Nebula X1 is a great contender. Especially now it's £681 off at Amazon for Prime members.

Ortofon has been making moving coil cartridges for almost 80 years. In that time, the company has produced more than 100 different models, and this experience makes itself known in products like the Quintet Blue.

Moving coil cartridges tend to be more pricey than moving magnet designs, but the Quintet Blue walks the line between affordability and precision by implementing an elliptical tip and aluminium cantilever into a design that is otherwise reminiscent of Ortofon’s more premium Black cartridge.

Weighing 9g, the Blue should sit comfortably at the end of most tonearms, and is easily mounted via a squared-off ABS body with captive threads.

The cartridge’s output voltage of 0.5mV (1kHz, 5cm/sec) is also fairly respectable for a moving coil, which tends to output lower voltages than a moving magnet design, but it is still low enough that you'll need a dedicated moving coil input on your amplifier or phono stage.

If you are buying the MC cartridge for Father’s Day, it might be worth checking whether your dad’s system already has these features.

So let's talk about the sound. In our review, we described the Quintet Blue as a “terrific performer”, adding that we were impressed by its “refinement and ability to render treble textures”.

Rhythmically, we found it “surefooted” with a “fine sense of drive”, but did note that it fell slightly behind the similarly-priced Goldring 2400 moving magnet cartridge when listening to heavy rock music.

If your dad has been looking to add a moving coil cartridge to his record player, as dads sometimes do, this bargain could be just the thing for those willing to spend a little extra on Father’s Day.

Being an Apple product, the AirPods Pro 3 come with several swanky new features. Highlights include a heart-rate monitor to track health and workout stats and a Live Translation feature.

But it's the improvements to sound and noise-cancelling that caught our attention.

Apple claims that the Pro 3 offer twice the noise-cancelling capability of the Pro 2, thanks to new ultra-low-noise microphones, advanced computational audio and foam-infused eartips.

It shows – while testing on a flight, the rumble of the engine was damped down further on the Pro 3 compared with its predecessor. The noise-cancelling of the Pro 3 is among the most effective on the market, especially with mid- and low-range frequencies.

Sound has been improved too, with a new ‘multiport acoustic architecture’ that promises more precise airflow control, delivering greater bass and a wider soundstage.

"It only takes a few minutes of comparisons to discover that the AirPods Pro 3 take a sonic step forward in every way, too," our AirPods Pro 3 review reads. "The Pro 3 sound clearer and more detailed; they are more spacious-sounding and more dynamic, too."

The Pro 3 have had a design tweak too. With a smaller body and differently angled eartip nozzle, they are designed to fit a wider range of ear shapes and sizes.

Battery life is eight hours from a single charge with ANC on, with a total battery life of 24 hours including the case.

Long-term AirPods features such as conversation mode and head-gesture controls remain as slick as ever, while water resistance has been improved to IP57.

Not everybody has time to watch all of the 2026 World Cup's games. Tragic, we know. But why should we be the only ones juggling commitments? If you are looking for a wireless speaker that can stream music, be used with a turntable and also double up for as a soundbar for your TV during this summer of sport, Audio Pro might have your back.

The Audio Pro C20 W had some living up to do if it wanted to rival the original Audio Pro C20, which we described as being "as multi-faceted as Inspector Gadget and as polymathic as Stephen Fry". Naturally, after such high praise, we were hoping the new model wouldn't have deviated detrimentally from its predecessor.

Thankfully, Audio Pro answered our prayers. The C20 W bears a striking resemblance to the C20 – the only obvious visual change being a silver, rather than black, back panel. The main drivers are also the same between models, with the C20 W featuring a single 16.5cm woofer flanked by twin 25mm tweeters, all powered by a total output power of 190W.

There were, however, significant changes in the Audio Pro C20 W's updated app, which allows easy control of the speaker's extensive wireless connectivity options.

Google Cast and Airplay 2 are both enabled for wireless playback up to 24bit/96kHz hi-res files, and the speaker supports Bluetooth 5.0. Users can also access Spotify Connect and Tidal Connect, as well as Audio Pro's own multi-room offering if you want to add more speakers.

In terms of physical connections, RCA stereo inputs, a moving magnet phono stage, an optical input for digital sources, and HDMI ARC for hooking up to the TV have all been included. The C20 W also features a subwoofer output, just in case you are hankering for some extra bass.

So, with all that in mind, how does the speaker actually sound?

We found the C20 W to have a clear and detailed sound, with "tight, well-defined bass reproduction". What's more, the speaker's "well-integrated midrange" was a highlight for us, sounding "cohesive enough to be a part of the ensemble but distinct enough to shine on its own terms", perfect for picking out commentary above the roaring crowd.

For a wireless speaker, this is an impressively versatile buy, especially considering the savings you'll make by picking it up for just £359 from Richer Sounds.

For those putting together a budget hi-fi system, the Award-winning Wharfedale Diamond 12.3 floorstanders have long been our go-to recommendation.

Until now. They've now been replaced by the updated Wharfedale Diamond 12.3i, which we gave a full five stars to just over a week ago.

And these new Wharfedale floorstanders remain a class leader at this sub-£500 price, and are an excellent buy for hi-fi newbies or anyone shopping on a budget.

That price just got a little bit better, too. We may have only just reviewed them, but the Wharfedale Diamond 12.3i are now down to £469 at Richer Sounds.

The 12.3i is the replacement of the original Wharfedale Diamond 12.3, which won multiple What Hi-Fi? Awards over the years – including at our most recent ceremony – and remained the class leaders at their price until they ceased production last year.

The new Diamond 12.3i floorstanders have a rather tall order to live up to then. Luckily, they're more than up to the task, with a change of port and internal damping resulting in a more exciting and dramatic listen than the original 12.3.

"The new “i” models are certainly bigger and bolder-sounding. Play a dramatic piece of music, such as the Indiana Jones theme by John Williams, and there is no denying that these new Diamonds produce more dramatic results," our Wharfedale Diamond 12.3i review reads.

"Dynamic shifts are a little more vivid, with the new-gen model going from quiet to loud and back again with greater conviction. The bass also kicks harder and, perhaps surprisingly given the identical specifications, seemingly a little deeper," we said.

Like their predecessors, the Wharfedale Diamond 12.3i are reasonably sized for floorstanders at 97.5cm tall and just 18cm wide. They'll fit into most rooms without dominating and will benefit most from having space to breathe away from the wall.

The 12.3i also carries over a 2½ way design where the upper 13cm driver handles the midrange and bass, with the lower one adding a bit of muscle at the lowest frequencies. The cone material on the drivers is made of a mix of polypropylene and mica, for a nice balance of stiffness, damping and light weight.

The tweeter is an old favourite: a 25mm coated woven polyester soft dome that has appeared in various Diamond 12 models and has always impressed us with its detail and refinement.

If you're looking for reasonably-priced hi-fi floorstanders, the talented Wharfedale 12.3i are a superb buy. The build quality is top-notch for the relatively modest price tag, they're smooth and even-handed sonically, and now are an even better bargain with £30 off at Richer Sounds.

LG might have just given us a winner, though. The 55-inch LG B6, a brand new 2026 OLED that only came out in March, is down to £879 at Richer Sounds.

We haven't tested this model, but we've seen it in action and were very impressed – and a brand new OLED at this price is not an opportunity to be missed.

While we haven't reviewed the LG B6, we were big fans of previous models in LG's B-series range, with the LG B3 receiving five stars and the LG B4 the subject of a rather favourable hands-on.

We have seen the LG B6 at events, and the TV looks to offer a very capable OLED experience for the money. The main downside is the relatively low brightness, especially compared to the step-up LG C6. If you have a dark room and are on a budget, though, the B6 is more than up to the task.

As with most LG OLEDs, the B6 is stacked with gaming features. Incredibly for a budget OLED, there are four HDMI 2.1 ports, all of which support 4K/120Hz, VRR, ALLM and HGiG. Some flagship OLEDs don't have that!

HDR support is solid too, with Dolby Vision, HDR10 and HLG all on board – only HDR10+ is missing.

LG's reliable WebOS 26 is also installed, with refined menus for easier navigation. All the usual apps and streaming services are available, including Amazon Prime Video, Apple TV, Channel 4, Disney+, Netflix and the all-important BBC iPlayer and ITVX for the World Cup.

Be aware that this is the B6E, a budget variant of the regular B6. The B6E lacks the HDR Precision Master Pro and Precision Sound Pro features – but especially considering it's a whole £400 cheaper than the regular B6, we wouldn't be too concerned.

If you want a good OLED on a budget, then you might struggle to find a better value offering than the LG B6. Getting a 2026 OLED at this price is unheard of – so we'd recommend snapping up the B6 for £879 at Richer Sounds in time for kick-off.

Any doubts about RGB Mini LED were pretty quickly dispelled once we had the Hisense UR9 in for testing.

The result was one of the best backlight TVs we have tested, with none of the flickering or shifting that we sometimes see in Mini LED sets.

“Black depth is consistently strong, shadow detail is excellent and subtle blooming is tightly controlled,” our Hisense UR9 review reads. “There’s also impressive richness and stability to colours, especially reds, which look wonderfully pure and saturated without drifting into pink or magenta tones.”

Gamers have three HDMI 2.1 ports to use, with support for a whopping 4K/170Hz (including the console-friendly 4K/120Hz), VRR and ALLM. There is also a DisplayPort connection for PC gamers, a rarity in modern TVs.

All four HDR formats are supported – namely HDR10, HDR10+, Dolby Vision, and HLG. This includes the Dolby Vision IQ and HDR10+ Adaptive variants, which cleverly respond to ambient room lighting conditions.

Hisense’s VIDAA platform is on board too, which is fast, responsive and includes all the major apps, though do note that the Apple TV app lacks access to the Apple TV store.

Sound is provided by a Devialet-tuned 4.1.2-channel speaker system with dedicated up-firing drivers, plus support for both Dolby Atmos and DTS:X. There is a lot to enjoy here, with a surprisingly expansive and full-bodied presentation with ample bass depth and a smooth, rich sonic character.

We've often called the LG C5 the best TV for most people, as it offers excellent picture quality and a substantial feature set at a very reasonable price for an OLED.

It looks very similar to its predecessor, the C4, on the outside, but offers improved internal specs, including a higher peak brightness and much-improved white detail.

"Starting with Blade Runner 2049, there is a veritable feast of positive picture attributes. The C5’s colours are rich and punchy yet never look overdone or unnatural," our 55-inch LG C5 review reads. "Low light colour volume is a particular strength of the C5, as the tense confrontation between Officer K and Sapper Morton at the start of the film shows us.

"The dimly lit farmhouse appears atmospherically dingy; however, the brown sofa and orange armchair still feature rich hues and colour variation that our competing Sony set doesn’t quite capture."

The C5 will surely be a crowd-pleaser for the World Cup due to its bright colours and three-dimensional depth, while its unfussy Filmmaker mode also offers an authentic and dynamic movie-watching experience.

LG has long been a class-leader when it comes to gaming features, and the C5 is a prime example of why. Four full-bandwidth HDMI 2.1 sockets are on offer, all of which support up to 4K/144Hz gameplay as well as VRR and ALLM.

WebOS 25 supports a wide range of streaming apps, including Netflix, Disney+, Apple TV, Amazon Prime Video, BBC iPlayer and ITVX – so there'll be no trouble streaming the World Cup this summer.

The only notable drawback of the C5 is the built-in speakers, which handle dialogue with enough clarity for everyday use but aren't quite up to the task for heavy cinematic duties. Adding a soundbar would go a long way.

Even with its successor available, the LG C5 is a fantastic all-rounder. And given that it's now available for half price at Richer Sounds, the C5 is a no-brainer if you're looking at this price level.

The Anker Nebula Mars 3 Air comes with a built-in battery, speakers and wi-fi, meaning it’s pretty much as easy a setup as you’re going to get.

And, as far as portable projectors go, the picture you then get from the Anker Nebula Mars Air 3 is mighty impressive. In our full review, our expert testers say: “The Mars 3 Air’s pictures comfortably outgun those of most portable rivals in pretty much every department.

“For starters, we’re really struck by how sharp and detailed everything looks. Despite the projector using (like all portable models) a fairly small lens aperture, every pixel and texture of a good HD source is faithfully rendered, adding up to a really dense, smooth, cinematic finish to the picture with little evidence of visible pixel structure. Even when you push the image to beyond 100 inches.”

Its maximum picture size is a massive 150 inches, but we find that projecting to this full size means you lose too much brightness. For us, an image size of between 70 and 90 inches brings the best balance of brightness and scale.

And, picture aside, the Mars Air 3 is also pretty nice to look at all by itself. With a slick design and comfortable carry strap attached to its top edge, it’s easy to move around even if it is weightier than many ultra-portable projectors.

It compensates for being that little bit heavier by providing fuss-free, easy to set-up movie/TV nights. It has a built-in Google TV operating system that is packed with all the popular video-streaming apps, including Netflix, Prime Video, Apple TV+ and Disney+. It also has an HDMI input, a USB port and Bluetooth for connecting other sources.

In terms of sonic performance, the Mars 3 Air has built-in speakers that our testers praise: “Not surprisingly, given how small they are, most portable projectors sound pretty horrible – if they even have any built-in sound at all. The Mars 3 Air’s 2 x 8W speaker set-up, though, bucks this trend in handy fashion.”

One important feature of a truly portable projector is its battery life. For the Mars 3 Air, you’re looking at 2.5 hours of mains-free movie playback (depending on how bright you set your picture and how loud you run your speakers).

It’s also not far behind the Hisense in terms of performance, as evidenced by our five-star rating. We also gave it a What Hi-Fi? Award, which is far from easy to achieve. Get it now for a record-low price.

The Epson EH-TW7100 is a brilliantly well-judged and affordable 4K projector and our expert testers said as much when they carried out their exacting review.

While it’s a shade pricier than an entry-level device, securing it for £999 at Amazon makes it a whole lot more enticing.

With excellent contrast, a balanced, nuanced colour palette and good connectivity options, it’s a solid option for most people.

It’s easy to set up and install, as well as producing a picture that emulates that of the cinema – exactly what you want to hear when shopping for a projector.

And fortunately, you don’t have to tinker with any settings to get a great image right from the get-go. All the preset modes are well judged, and the colours are balanced with naturally smooth motion.

You’ll be able to project a 100 inch image from between 2.95 and 4.77m away from the screen, and the unit can be ceiling, rear-rack or desktop mounted.

The EH-TW1700 has Bluetooth for audio-out to a soundbar or wireless speakers, which is a really useful and impressive feature. To go with that it also has sufficient HDMI and powered USB ports.

All this led us to say in our review: “That performance, combined with its luminance, connectivity options, flexibility and the available accessories, all add up to a superb family projector that will make an excellent addition to almost any home. You won’t find better in this class.”

Which is why we are particularly happy to recommend it at its current price of £999.

The 50-inch TCL C6KS proves that large TVs don’t have to break the bank. Better still, with this set, you don’t even have to compromise on quality.

Achieving a much-coveted five-star rating, the C6KS offers a superb level of brightness and contrast alongside comprehensive HDR support. It’s an impressive visual feast, especially at this price point.

It normally retails at £549, but you can now snap it up for just £399 at Amazon.

Need more convincing? One of the main draws of TCL’s model is its Mini LED backlighting with 160 dimming zones, which helps to provide arguably the best picture quality we have seen on a set at this price.

The panel features TCL’s new HVA technology, which provides deep blacks, refined shadow details, and better halo control than cheaper TVs can normally manage.

We say in our review: “The brightness feels very organic to the 50C6KS’s picture [...] by which we mean that, as well as not generally straining the TV’s black levels and local dimming controls, it doesn’t cause the brightest colours to start looking faded or washed out.”

It’s not perfect, of course. We find that motion can look a little soft, while very bright HDR highlights sometimes suffer from clipping or colour banding.

Sonically, we were happy to find that it supports both Dolby Atmos and DTS Virtual-X playback, delivering these premium audio formats with more volume and power than expected.

It doesn’t manage to beat the performance of even the most affordable soundbars, however, so we recommend that you head to our best budget soundbars page to find a suitable sonic partner.

In terms of connectivity, the TCL model offers three HDMI ports, which might be slightly limiting for some users, plus two media-capable USB ports. It also supports all four main HDR formats: HLG, HDR10, HDR10+ and Dolby Vision.

Despite some drawbacks, the C6KS manages to overdeliver in pretty much every area where you would normally think you might have to compromise with a budget TV.

All of that means that the C6KS earned itself a What Hi-Fi? Award last year, and currently holds the top spot as the best 50-inch model in our best TVs under £1000 guide. And, at a bargain price of £399 at Amazon, it’s a deal well worth another look.

The JBL Bar 300MK2 may not quite reach the same heights as the Sonos Beam (Gen 2) in the entry-level Dolby Atmos category, but it still produces a bombastic yet detailed sound for movies. Plus, it will also cost you £110 less than its rival (currently at £359 at Amazon).

The JBL Bar 300MK2 is a great example of how a mid-range soundbar can push its compact dimensions to the limit. It measures 5 x 94 x 10cm, so is perfectly suited to partner a 48- or 55-inch TV – but, of course, it also fits nicely under a 65-inch.

Where this Dolby Atmos soundbar really comes into play is in being able to produce room-filling sound despite its size and accessible pricing. Our expert testers say in its review: “Straight out of the box, the JBL soundbar provides an immersive sound experience that is, as you would hope, a massive improvement on almost any TV’s audio.”

They add, when viewing and listening to Mission Impossible: The Final Reckoning: “It packs a punch in terms of bass, too, which gives these action-heavy moments an extra level of excitement. When the helicopter flies overhead, we can feel the thrum of the chopping in the soles of our feet.”

While it doesn’t feature upward-firing drivers, the JBL offers virtualised Dolby Atmos as well as DTS Virtual:X. There are two HDMI connections – one dedicated input and an output that can also receive sound from your TV via eARC. While there is no 4K/120Hz support, the HDMI passthrough does support Dolby Vision and HDR10+.

Ultimately, JBL’s weightier, more bombastic, more room-filling sound might be why you grab the Bar 300MK2 over the Sonos Beam (Gen 2). But it might also just be the price, now that it’s down to an excellent £249 at Amazon.

The World Cup is the perfect time to upgrade your TV – especially if you’re thinking about making the jump to OLED.

If you’re on a budget but still want to make sure you get a decent OLED, the 42-inch LG C5 is pretty much your best bet right now – especially now that it has crashed to £656 at Amazon.

This C5 model won the What Hi-Fi? Award for Best 40-43in TV at our most recent Awards. At well under £700, it’s also one of the cheapest OLEDs on the market right now.

While 42 inches is on the smaller size for a TV nowadays, this LG C5 set would be perfect for modest living rooms, bedrooms or even as a (rather imposing) desktop monitor.

And, as we discovered during testing, you don’t need a giant screen to get a stunning TV experience.

For just £656, you’ll get access to all the OLED magic, including perfect inky blacks and pixel-level contrast control – absolutely ideal for making World Cup player kits and stadium lights stand out.

Motion control is confident and controlled, too, so the C5 will be more than adept when it comes to fast-paced action.

We recommend switching to Filmmaker mode and turning off unnecessary processing for movies, though. We tested with a viewing of Dune: Part Two, and found the kind of cinematic image you would normally associate with far larger and more expensive sets.

“The picture looks fantastic, with the Fremen and Harkonnen fighters looking wonderfully sharp and three-dimensional,” reads our LG C5 review. “The TV’s slightly warm colours and solid peak-brightness levels create a truly immersive experience despite the screen’s small size.”

What really sets the C5 apart from the pack, however, is the feature set. Gamers are truly spoiled at this price, with four full-bandwidth HDMI 2.1 ports, supporting VRR, ALLM and refresh rates up to 4K/144Hz, plus a Dolby Vision game mode and excellent HGiG implementation.

The slick webOS smart TV platform also offers all the major streaming apps, including Netflix, Disney+, Prime Video, Apple TV, BBC iPlayer, ITVX and more.

The audio can’t quite match the brilliance of the picture, though. The 2.0-channel, 20W sound system sounds clear and reasonably balanced, but it lacks weight and scale. We certainly recommend a soundbar if you truly want to hear the roar of the crowds.

It is also worth noting that the LG C6 is now available with improved processing – but that will set you back £1299 for the 42-inch model.

The Arc Ultra looks very similar to its predecessor, though slightly less tall, meaning it is less likely to obstruct the bottom of your TV’s image. It also has a new ‘ledge’, which houses most of the touch controls.

As has always been the case with Sonos soundbars, simplicity is key. There’s no remote control or display – you simply connect it to your TV via HDMI eARC and you’re good to go. While that simplicity is a great advantage for many, others may feel limited by the lack of any HDMI inputs for external equipment – you’ll have to connect extra products directly to your TV. And the lack of DTS:X support might bother some people – although it’s not a huge omission in our book.

It’s worth overlooking these slight omissions, because the sound quality is superb. The Arc Ultra boasts a 9.1.4-channel configuration, up from the 5.0.2 arrangement of the original Arc. There are 15 Class D amplifiers powering 14 drivers that are all Sonos-engineered. There are seven tweeters, six midrange woofers, and a ‘Sound Motion’ woofer; and it’s the last of those that is the really big deal.

Markedly different from a typical speaker driver, it allows the Arc Ultra to produce, Sonos claims, ‘double the bass’ of its predecessor. The big question, of course, is how did our expert review team rate it on sound?

Well, they had this to say: “The Sonos Arc Ultra is a hit. Perhaps contrary to expectations, it’s not vastly bassier than the original Arc, but its low end is significantly more controlled, tuneful and better defined. And that’s just the start of the improvements. It really is quite amazing how much more crisp, spacious, precise and detailed the Ultra sounds.”

For a solo soundbar, this is an impressive buy and you can always add surrounds and a dedicated subwoofer to the Arc Ultra at a later date – especially with the saving you’ll make picking it up for just £799 at Amazon.

"Switching to Blade Runner 2049, we also get a sense of the JBL’s ability to create a wide soundfield," our JBL Bar 1000MK2 review reads. "We watch as raindrops fall around Officer K and his digital companion Joi, and feel the downpour just behind the listening position.

"This track also shows off the soundbar’s sense of movement, as drones whizz past the viewer with an energy that will have you double-checking you are not sat next to a Replicant."

The Bar 1000MK2 has four HDMI sockets, made up of three inputs and an eARC output. There is no 4K/120Hz support for the gamers out there, but the HDMI passthrough supports signals up to 4K/60Hz as well as Dolby Vision and HDR10+.

If you're serious about sound, you might want to consider the Award-winning Sonos Arc Ultra, which delivers a more immersive overall audio experience and is currently on sale for £799. However, it does lack the Bar 1000MK2's wireless speaker party trick.

"Watching Ryan Gosling’s character fly into a dusty protein farm, motion handling is beautiful and we don’t see any artefacts as his car zooms over the landscape and a recon drone examines the scene," our Sony Bravia 8 review reads. "Dark areas retain oodles of detail, with every crinkle in the sofa in Dave Bautista's home being apparent."

The image is also wonderfully bright, sharp and three-dimensional. The Bravia 8 will make for incredibly immersive World Cup viewing, but it is also exceptionally balanced and authentic for movies.

The reliable Google TV OS also has the full suite of apps – including international heavy-hitters Netflix, Disney+ Apple TV and Amazon Prime Video, as well as the all-important BBC iPlayer and ITVX for the football.

If you have the budget, you may want to consider the step-up Sony Bravia 8 II. It's our current TV Product of the Year and our benchmark for testing, though you'll be looking at around £2100 for the 65-inch model.

At this price, though, the Bravia 8 is an incredible TV and is cheaper than rivals such as the LG C5 right now. With some of the best motion handling and built-in audio available on an OLED TV, the Sony Bravia 8 will make you feel like you're on the pitch yourself – especially with 54 per cent off at Amazon.

If you want to level up your home cinema set-up for movies, TV shows, or the upcoming FIFA World Cup, then you may be looking at investing in one of the best projectors. If you're working on a budget though, I've just found a sneaky deal that will save you some serious money.

Right now, Samsung's The Freestyle 2nd Gen can be yours for just £297 at Richer Sounds, a whopping £600 saving and the lowest price we've ever seen it drop to. But, there are a couple of things you need to do.

We're yet to get Samsung's The Freestyle 2nd Gen into our testing rooms, but we were lucky enough to get hands-on at its launch event. And what we enjoyed in the four-star original Samsung The Freestyle, we found to be present again, along with a couple of new surprises.

And while we haven't made a definitive verdict, we still had plenty to say from our time with the newest model. Firstly, the 2nd Gen is pretty much identical in design, with its compact build, cylindrical body and podium-style base helping it stand out from rivals.

The spec sheet offers more of the same, with a 1920 x 1080 resolution, alongside support for HDR10+ and HLG. It uses an LED light source, with a claimed 30,000-hour life span, and a claimed peak brightness of 230 ANSI lumens. The built-in speaker capable of 360-degree sound that featured in the original is back, as well as Samsung’s extremely clever auto keystone feature.

While physical connectivity options are limited to micro HDMI (although the connector does support HDMI ARC), The Freestyle excels in what it offers in terms of simplicity and portability with smart features and gaming abilities all built-in.

One of those new abilities is access to Samsung's Gaming Hub, meaning you can play Xbox games using an Xbox Game Pass subscription directly through it.

Plus, you've got access to Samsung's Tizen OS, which can be found on its TVs, giving you multiple streaming services including Netflix, Prime Video and Disney+, all of which are reached via dedicated hot keys on the remote control.

Visually, it was hard to get a clear impression of the 2nd Gen in the bright exhibition space we saw it in, but our expert tester said: "There appeared to be decent detail to the picture, with solid enough colours and good definition and detail on faces and clothing. One of the areas we criticised the original for was the below-par black levels, but it was impossible to really get an idea of this in an exhibition environment."

If you're looking for an entertaining projector that'll suit your movie watching and World Cup needs, the Samsung The Freestyle 2nd Gen is an incredibly entertaining option, especially at this knockdown price, just £297 at Richer Sounds.

The LG C5 had some big shoes to fill. Not only did we rate it five stars, but we also crowned it winner of the Best Gaming TV and Best Mid-range TV categories in our What Hi-Fi Awards 2025.

After a lot of testing, we concluded that the LG C6 had surpassed the performance of its predecessor. We loved it so much that we've labeled it the best TV we've tested so far this year.

The secret to the C6’s excellent performance is the new Alpha 11 Gen 3 processor, which helps deliver a brighter, richer and more refined picture than from the already excellent C5.

“Even in Filmmaker Mode, the C6’s extra brightness over the C5 is immediately obvious,” reads our LG C6 review. “Highlights are more intense, colors have a touch more richness and the overall image carries greater depth and dimensionality.”

All of this is highly impressive, given that the C6 uses the same WOLED panel technology as previous C-series models from the past couple of years. If you have the budget, you might want to consider the 77- or 83-inch C6, which feature newer, brighter Primary RGB Tandem OLED panels, but the 65-inch model is still a revelation when it comes to picture performance.

Upscaling and shading have been improved too, while LG has also finally found some sonic success. A dedicated sound system is, as always, recommended, but the LG C6 sounds pretty good for a TV in its class, with a cleaner and more controlled performance than the C5.

To top it all off, the C6 features LG’s typically excellent gaming features, including four HDMI 2.1 sockets supporting 4K/165Hz (as well as the more console-friendly 4K/120Hz), VRR and Dolby Vision gaming.

The LG C6 is a formidable all-rounder of a TV, which will make a terrific option for the soccer World Cup – but it is capable of much, much more. Such a big discount this early into the life cycle is rare indeed – get the 65-inch LG C6 for $2000 at Amazon.

Best TVs: flagship OLEDs and budget Mini LED sets tried and tested

The last time we saw the five-star Grado RS1x discounted, it was down to £695. That was a pretty hefty discount, and we recommended the deal to all our readers.

Since then, the entertaining and exotic-looking headphones have crashed to a new, almost-unbelievable low price of £549 at Peter Tyson. That's £251 less than the price we tested them at.

So, if you're looking for a "distinctly open, entertainingly lean and agile, and unfalteringly detailed" pair of headphones at a seriously good price, check this deal out now.

If you’re looking for home headphones to plug into your hi-fi system or desktop DAC and are fortunate enough to have this kind of budget to spend on them, I would wholeheartedly recommend that this be the pair you treat your ears to.

The caveat to owning Grado headphones is that their retro look will not appeal to everyone; those trademark antenna-like adjustment sliders won’t suit all, nor will their foam earpads.

But the RS1x are arguably the nicest-looking pair we’ve seen from the Brooklyn-based brand, owing to their mix of maple sleeve, hemp core and cocobolo wood – which doesn’t just look lovely but is essential to their wa​​rm tonal character.

Speaking of which, it’s their sound quality that really stands out. True to Grado’s signature sound, the RS1x are, to borrow our words from back in 2022, distinctly open, entertainingly lean and agile, and unfalteringly detailed.

There are far more premium-priced Grados, but the RS1x’s balance of performance and comfort (their frame is lightweight and the earcups sit on, rather than fully enclose, your ears) makes them a good go-to everyday pick to plug into, say, a laptop-connected Chord Hugo 2 DAC.

This would be a good time to mention that you'll need a good, quiet space in which to listen to these Grados, considering their open-back design, which inherently leaks a notable amount of sound both in and out.

So bear the open-back vs closed-back headphone discussion in mind when considering these, or any pair of audiophile headphones.

If they fit the bill on paper, you won’t regret making the Grado RS1x yours for the very reasonable discounted sum of £549 at Peter Tyson.

Want a great World Cup TV but still want to make sure you get great value?

Then you may well want a TCL TV. The electronics firm has spent the past few years delivering good picture and sound quality at unbelievably low prices – and the trend continues with the release of the new TCL Q6C.

We gave the Mini LED five stars in our glowing review just two days ago, declaring the TV to be “ridiculously good value for money” – and now it’s even cheaper! The TCL Q6C is now yours for £559 at Amazon.

That’s already more than £90 off the test price, and it would be a good price for a 65-inch TV in pretty much any circumstance. But it’s remarkably rare to get a 65-inch TV at this price that’s just this good. The Q6C could cost twice as much and we would still be impressed.

The headline here is that you get a 65-inch TV with features such as 4K/144Hz gaming support, Quantum Dot colours and even a sophisticated Mini-LED backlight system with local dimming for only £559.

Now, specifications aren’t everything, but during our testing we found that, here, it does all add up to something pretty special.

The most impressive part of the Q6C is the black-level performance. We’ve seen 65-inch LCD TVs costing thousands more in some cases that fail to deliver black tones so effectively.

As our TCL Q6C review says: “Colours impress, too. There’s more vibrancy and lustre on tap than we usually see with such affordable TVs, yet at the same time, in most presets, the impressive vibrancy doesn’t look forced or unnatural.

“Skin tones look believable, there’s practically zero HDR colour striping, and subtle shading differences are rendered with enough finesse to ensure that even the most colourful images feel three-dimensional and realistic.”

As with all TCL TVs, sophisticated Google TV streaming smarts are on board. All the main global streaming services and key terrestrial UK broadcaster catch-up apps, including the oft-missed BBC iPlayer, are available (though Freeview Play and Freely are missing).

Gamers are well catered for too, with the refresh rate reaching 4K/144Hz (and the console-friendly 4K/120Hz) on its two HDMI 2.1 sockets. You can even increase the frame rate all the way up to a huge 288Hz if you’re prepared to accept a drop to Full HD resolution. VRR is supported, too, including the AMD FreeSync Premium Pro format, and there’s even support for Superwide aspect ratios if you’re playing a PC game that supports them.

The TCL Q6C’s sound is better than that of most, if not all, other TVs in its price class, too. DTS:X and Dolby Atmos mixes especially result in ambient effects and off-screen details appear well beyond the TV’s left, right and even top edges without the staging becoming incoherent or thin.

If you’re looking for a TV in this price range, you’re going to struggle to get better value than the TCL Q6C. It’s a formidable all-rounder with features that similarly priced rivals could only dream of, and now it’s got this generous discount, with £90 off at Amazon.

Look, not everyone has enough money to spend $1099 on the Sonos Arc Ultra. But don't let that stop you buying another one of our best Dolby Atmos soundbars.

Right now, the five-star, What Hi-Fi? Award-winning Sonos Beam (Gen 2) has had its price slashed down to just $369 at Amazon. That’s a saving of $80 on the launch price and almost a third of the price of the Arc Ultra.

If the idea of warm, refined sound, streaming smarts and effective handling of Dolby Atmos is getting your audio juices flowing, take a look at this deal.

The Sonos Beam (Gen 2) has been around for a while now (since October 2021, to be exact) so it’s not surprising to see a discount. But what you should know is that it’s still a wildly impressive soundbar, despite its age.

When the Gen 2 first launched, it impressed us by taking everything the original Beam had to offer, then adding genuinely convincing Dolby Atmos without changing the overall design or adding dedicated upward-firing drivers.

And it has continued to impress us, taking a What Hi-Fi? Award in 2025 as the best Dolby Atmos soundbar in its size and price categories.

The Gen 2 uses clever processing using psychoacoustic HRTF (head-related transfer function) technology to deliver a sense of height using two of the unit's five front-facing drivers.

So, if space and budget are limited, this is an affordable, all-in-one device of rare ability.

While Sonos has released the Sonos Ray and the Sonos Arc Ultra since, the Ray doesn't support Dolby Atmos, meaning the Beam Gen 2 is still the entry-level option if you want a Sonos with immersive 3D audio.

The Dolby Atmos is really the headline feature for the Beam Gen 2. It handles the format better than any similarly priced soundbar, producing spacious sound with good tracking of audio objects.

This being a Sonos product, you also get the ability to build a wireless multi-room system. You’ll need the (free) Sonos S2 app to get the most out of your purchase, and this also comes with access to Trueplay room calibration technology and a two-band EQ.

There is Wi-Fi onboard, though, which means you can also stream to the Beam Gen 2 from a handheld device using Apple AirPlay 2; Spotify Connect is built-in too.

Support for Amazon Music Ultra HD audio (for both the Beam Gen 2 and other Sonos models) is also now available and gives access to lossless 24-bit/48kHz tracks as well as Dolby Atmos Music.

For audio formats, the Beam Gen 2 supports stereo PCM, Dolby Digital, Dolby Digital Plus, Dolby TrueHD, Dolby Atmos (both the Digital+ and TrueHD versions), multichannel PCM and Dolby Multichannel PCM.

Decoding for DTS digital surround has now been added to this and other Sonos products, although this doesn't extend to DTS:X.

In terms of sound, during testing, we paired the Beam Gen 2 with TVs ranging from 43 inches to 65 inches and confirmed that “it enhances the cinematic scale and viewing experience”.

As we say in our review verdict: “The Beam Gen 2 not only lives up to the high bar set by its predecessor but exceeds it by a margin that more than justifies its new feature set and higher cost.”

When it comes to the best wireless earbuds on the market right now, we've done our research. Extensive testing and hundreds of pairs has led us to finding some wonderfully cheap buds that do a very decent job for not a lot of money.

And right now, they just got even cheaper. For a limited time, the EarFun Air are down to £23 at Amazon, £22.52 to be exact.

That's a return to the lowest-ever price we've ever seen and well over half off. A solid saving on a pair of five-star buds, pure and simple.

We originally reviewed the EarFun Air back in 2020, but that doesn't mean they don't continue to earn a solid recommendation from us as some of the best budget wireless earbuds you can buy.

Nowadays, you'll see the likes of Sony dominating the affordable wireless earbuds market, with the WF-C510 and WF-C710N both budget options, but EarFun kickstarted the current trend for well-specced wireless headphones that cost very little.

At first glance, the EarFun Air true wireless earbuds may seem too good to be true. But that's not the case. An extensive feature list includes voice assistance, an IPX7 waterproof rating, a wireless charging case and Bluetooth 5.0 support.

Not forgetting the impressively long battery life of 35 hours, seven from the buds and a further 28 from the charging case. And they certainly don't feel cheap either, with a pretty classy build and finish, including four tip sizes to choose from. More than we'd expect for earbuds this cheap.

But, how do they sound? In our full review, our expert testers said: "Fans of a grippy, energetic listen to get you through a workout will find much to enjoy here."

Adding: "While similar budget-friendly headphones can come off somewhat congested, here the design of the driver and earpiece (which doesn’t sit too far into the ear canal) allows for a pleasant and spacious presentation."

They're not noise-cancelling earbuds, but you'd be seriously hard pushed to find that at this price. Fortunately, given their age, you'll often find a discount on the EarFun Air. But, this is the best price we've seen in a while, so grab them while you can for just £23 at Amazon for a limited time.

When it comes to a shiny new World Cup TV, there’s an awful lot to consider.

This includes lighting conditions when you watch the all-important games themselves. You don’t want a bit of glare ruining England’s winning goal in the final (we can dream, right?).

If you do have particularly bright lights or are concerned about a sunlit room for the earlier games, we have a solution: the 65-inch Samsung QN90F, now £1229 at Peter Tyson.

The combination of the QN90F’s seriously high brightness and remarkable anti-glare filter is transformative in bright rooms; and that’s just the start of the Mini LED’s many, many talents.

The Samsung QN90F is more than up for the challenge of being your World Cup TV of choice – but it’s also excellent for movies, gaming and whatever else you throw at it.

As our Samsung QN90F review reads, the Mini LED can “produce typically beautiful images capable of adapting to pretty much every possible picture quality need and taste – as well as pretty much any possible room environment.”

As we mention above, the QN90F delivers seriously high brightness, but the outstanding backlight control means there are no traces of haloing around stand-out bright objects.

And the anti-glare filter? Our review states that it works “so well at suppressing reflections that they allow you to forge a direct connection with what you’re watching – even in rooms that aren’t fully blacked out – that has to be seen to be believed.”

The audio, too, is impressive – but only in Amplify sound mode. Once that’s turned on, the speakers project sound clear of the TV’s bodywork, creating a larger and more engaging soundstage while also unlocking more heft in the lower frequencies.

If you’re thinking of switching to EA Sports FC during this World Cup period, then the QN90F will rise to the challenge admirably. All four of the QN90F’s HDMI ports are specified to the full 48Gb HDMI 2.1 bandwidth, allowing them to handle the latest key gaming features of 4K/120Hz, VRR (including the AMD FreeSync Premium Pro system), and ALLM switching.

If you would rather try the excellent contrast and wide viewing-angles of OLED, then take a look at the LG C5 instead, which is one of our Award winners but will set you back a bit more. But don’t rule out Mini LEDs such as the QN90F, which offer their own advantages such as durability, high peak brightness and resistance to burn-in.

Better than half price at Peter Tyson is always quite the bargain. But it’s an even sweeter deal just in time for the World Cup, especially for a TV as talented as the Samsung QN90F.

After being underwhelmed by Cyrus Audio's XR range, the Cyrus 40 ST proved to be a very welcome surprise during our testing, one that shook up our premium music streamer recommendations.

Perhaps one of the biggest surprises was the sleek modern look, with new aluminium casework yet still retaining Cyrus's iconic half-width chassis design.

We were even more enamoured of the Cyrus 40 ST's terrific sound quality.

“Dynamically, it is impressively expressive, rendering low-level shifts in intensity elegantly, and delivering large-scale orchestral crescendos with real conviction” our Cyrus 40 ST review reads.

We also found that, whatever music we played, the Cyrus 40 ST was organised, insightful and heaps of fun, offering a “blend of detail, dynamics and rhythmic security that’s hard to better at the money”.

The 40 ST employs the BluOS streaming engine, which offers support for AirPlay, Tidal Connect, Qobuz Connect, Spotify Connect, internet radio, and numerous other services.

You should bear in mind that there's no Bluetooth or Chromecast support, which is curious for a premium music streamer. Hi-res file support is also present, but is restricted to 24-bit/192kHz PCM and MQA.

As with other Cyrus products, there is upgrade potential should you wish to invest further. The outboard 40 PSU (power supply unit) can be added for even greater scale, power and authority, though it's an admittedly pricey £2495.

If you have deep pockets and are not concerned about a few missing features, the Cyrus 40 ST is a strong all-rounder that can shine in a range of systems. A £346 saving on an Award-winner is definitely not to be sniffed at, so check out the 40 ST at Richer Sounds for £2649.

I'm always on the hunt for good deals on the best soundbars and, I'll admit, they are pretty hard to come by. But, once in a while, a saving will pop up that surprises me.

Right now, the Sonos Arc Ultra is down to just £799 at Amazon, a £200 saving on its usual price. It's not quite the lowest price as it dropped to £719 on Cyber Monday – but that's a once a year sales event.

In our review we said the Arc is "the best soundbar you can currently buy" – and that was before the discount. But you'll have to be quick, as it's only a limited time deal.

The Sonos Arc Ultra is a five-star, What Hi-Fi? Award-winning Dolby Atmos soundbar.

It launched with high expectations, following in the footsteps of the original, and now legendary, Sonos Arc.

But, after years of speculation and rumours, the Ultra turned out to be exceptionally good. And while it looks very similar to its predecessor, there are some noteworthy differences.

It's slightly less thick, which means it is less likely to obstruct the bottom of your TV’s image, and it also has a ‘ledge’, which houses most of the soundbar's touch controls in a rather stylish way.

As has always been the case with Sonos soundbars, simplicity is at the fore. There's no remote or display – you simply connect it to your TV via HDMI eARC and you're ready to rock. While many find this to be an ideal setup, the Arc Ultra may seem limited to some, especially with no HDMI inputs nor DTS:X support.

It's worth overlooking these flaws though, especially when you consider how the Arc Ultra sounds.

Boasting a 9.1.4-channel configuration, up from the 5.0.2 arrangement of the original Arc, there are 15 Class D amplifiers powering 14 drivers.

There are also seven tweeters, six midrange woofers, and a ‘Sound Motion’ woofer. It's the last of those that really makes the difference.

In our review, we said: “The Sonos Arc Ultra is a hit. Perhaps contrary to expectations, it’s not vastly bassier than the original Arc, but its low end is significantly more controlled, tuneful and better defined. And that’s just the start of the improvements. It really is quite amazing how much more crisp, spacious, precise and detailed the Ultra sounds.”

This audio performance makes the Arc Ultra hard to beat, as well-suited to music as it is to movies.

It's also worth noting that the S90F is to pretty easy to set up – taking less than a minute. The central pedestal stand connects easily to the screen, thanks to its screw-free design.

When it comes to picture, our expert testers switched to Filmmaker mode, with the colour booster off and the colour profile set to Warm One, to reduce the slightly overcooked feeling while watching Dune: Part 2.

This led them to say: "Then the desert retains a decent level of pop and colours look much more realistic, with rolling sand dunes featuring wonderful levels of detail. Movements lose their artificiality with the darting desert warriors’ strikes feeling as sharp as the knives they wield."

The S90F is also one of the only non-LG OLEDs you can buy with the full complement of four, rather than the more standard two, full-fat HDMI 2.1 inputs, which will be great news for gamers. Plus, there's support for VRR and ALLM onboard.

It even goes beyond the latest-generation games consoles’ 4K/120Hz, reaching all the way up to 4K/144Hz, though the latter is only relevant to PC gamers with suitably hardcore rigs.

Sonically, the S90F falls a little short. Our expert testers found the 60-watt, 2.1.2-channel Dolby Atmos built-in sound system to be a “mixed bag”. Though that's not an uncommon feature of a set this size.

Feature-wise, they've got a battery life of six hours per charge, with the wireless charging case providing three more charges. Plus, the Bluetooth 5.3 earbuds include AAC and SBC codec support, like most rivals, and there’s aptX Adaptive for those using a compatible smartphone or tablet.

Ultimately, you're getting an entertaining and hugely likeable pair of wireless earbuds. And what's even better is that right now they're just $249 at Amazon.
