This is the striking-looking spectra, part of the new avielo range from projectiondesign, launched at this weekend's High End Show in Munich.
The Norwegian company has three models in the new line-up, ranging from an entry-level 720p model designed for screens of up to 100in through to one designed for image sizes up to 180in across, and further additions to the range are due later in the year.
The spectra offers a native resolution of 1920x1080 pixels, and is good for screens up to 10ft diagonal. Like the others in the range, it uses DLP technology from Texas Instruments, 10-bit video processing and custom optics, and is calibrated and characterised before it leaves the factory for optimal performance.
It also has hand-selected Signature lenses and technology transferred over from the company's professional projectors.
The avielo optix (left) is also a Full HD design, and offers a choice of six lenses, three of which are from the company's Signature series. It's good for screens up to 15ft across, and uses projectiondesign's DuArch lamp technology, so that the show goes on even in the case of lamp failure. It's housed in 'etruscan bronze' casework.
The entry-level model is the prisma, a 720p design for screens up to 120in. It's designed, the company says, to offer its usual performance and ruggedness in a package that's more affordable than ever.
Coming later this year are the radiance, designed in the same chassis as the spectra but with a higher light output, making it suitable for screens up to 135in, and the range-topping helios.
projectiondesign says of the helios: "Using a proprietary design three-chip DLP architecture, this model is packed with technological advances, including optically adjustable colour gamut without losing precious dynamics and bit-depth, and for the first time, an image content adaptive output level for 3-chip DLP projectors.
"Suitable for screen sizes up to 300 inches diagonal, the helios has been designed from the outset as a home cinema projector without compromise."
