Sennheiser Momentum on-ear headphones unboxing
Sennheiser Momentum on-ear headphones: unboxing video
Sennheiser gave its two pennies in the stylish over-ear cans market last year when it launched the original Momentum headphones. Now it’s released the little brother – the Sennheiser Momentum On-Ear headphones, available in a range of colours.
We’re unboxing the coffee and cream version today, but there’s also the option of pink, pistachio or blue – with more colours coming later in the year, which Sennheiser says will be its winter shades.
Open the box and you’ll see the soft touch Sennheiser carry case, and inside, a drawstring pouch which holds the closed back headphones.
Sennheiser Momentum: on-ear vs. over ear
Taking a look at the Momentum on-ears, and there’s a clear likeness to the originals, though they're obviously smaller.
There’s the same brushed metal ear slider on the side, though in place of the leather ear cups from the originals is a material called Alacantara, a synthetic material you’ll also find on the Sennheiser HD800 range, aimed to keep your ears cool.
The headband is still real leather, but with a suede finish as opposed to the textured leather band of the originals.
Taking a look at the cable – it is a removeable cable – this one is designed for use with Apple devices, with an inline remote and mic for taking calls if using it with an iPhone, though an Android version is apparently on its way.
There’s also a plain cable should you prefer, but there’s no 6.3mm adapter as there was with the original Momentums.
The Sennheiser Momentum on-ear headphones will be available from mid-July for £170, making them around £90 cheaper than the over ear model.
