Are the specs correct? The review states that when bi-wired they sound better but the spec says this is not possible?
Apologies, gremlins in our database. They are indeed biwireable, as it says in the review, so I've updated the tech specs accordingly.
Nice to see that someone is making a compact loudspeaker that needs to be near the wall for best effect.
(I've always thought it rather silly that so many compact 'speakers need loads of space behind them because, to my mind at least, that defeats the whole point of compact 'speakers in the first place!)
In my experience, the old DB1is sounded just right at 3.5" - 4" from a wall (not suprisingly, the same distance when using their dedicated wall-brackets).
What a pity that their performance falls off at lower volume levels. If there were lots of amplifiers with the UnitiQute's switchable bass contour feature (that automatically reduces it's effect as volume is increased), then this might not be such a problem. But I doubt many of these 'speakers will ever get used with an amp posessing such a useful feature.
At £1500 these have strayed into Harbeth P3ESR 'territory' and I would be fascinated to see a group test including both models. (Although I doubt Harbeth would ever want - or need - to co-operate with such a test sadly.)

A hugely talented amp and a real comeback for Marantz
This versatile all-in-one solution has plenty of features to root for, but sound quality isn’t one of them
