Is the stereo sound improvable using an external dac?
Hey there Peter,
the player can output PCM directly from the CD via HDMI or the coax digital out, if that is what you mean. You do not have to use the analog stereo OUT.
In that case, the AV Receiver is going to convert the digital PCM to analog sound and thus determine the final sound quality.

A great option & reason to finally offload that DVD player that just wont give up,but cant play BDs.The internet access is a good touch at the price,Sony are starting to realise there is another type of budget customer out there.
