Best budget 40-42in TV, Awards 2011. The budget price doesn’t have to mean obvious short-comings – and this Samsung is a truly polished performer

I have to agree with Mhirst which is a shame as I buy most of my hifi on what hifi recommendation but am so disappointed with this purchase. I have had the tv for 2 weeks now and contacted Samsung with the picture problem ( unless you looking straight at the tv the colour and sharpness in the picture gets worse also white edging around the frame on dark scenes) this tv was to replace my 4 year old Panasonic 720i, but as with the below post will be going into my spare room and my old tv coming back. If only I could get a refund for my tv, a waste of £480 !!!!

If you planing buy this tv I hope you read this post. i would only give it 1 star

I think the confusion about 100Hz stems from the fact that Samsung call it “Clear Motion Rate: 100” which is why some sites that sell it say 100Hz and some not. (Remember most sales staff can only just identify what a plug is, therefore know as much about the technical side as they do about washing machines, IE: Nothing)

That's strange; everywhere/one says this is a 100Hz TV. It's very nice--mostly, everything that What Hi-Fi rates a Best Buy is worth a purchase!

I bought one last week and indeed the shop confirmed it is NOT 100hz. Hope I don't regret the purchase - so far so good according to this middle-aged glasses-wearing user!Wink

What are you talking about powelly 16 this is a 100hz TV. I've been looking at it today in several shops and found it to look excellent.

is this a joke?? 5 stars?! especially reviewing it at £600?! you can get a lot more for your money somwewhere else.
The motion is awful and the lack of 100hz really shows

I bought one of these TVs yesterday and it is already on the floor in the spare room with my 4 year old LCD back in its place.  Whatever I tried I could not get the colours in a watchable state and it made my eyes hurt.  Tried to follow advice online but again no good.  Its as bad through the built-in digital tuner as it is with Sky.  Completely over saturated, purple / blue tint on everything.  Sky menun looks like I've never seen it before.  Sound is as bad as everyone says as well.  Feared this would be the case but decided to go for it....wish I'd kept my money where it was.  May be good for playing DVDs but what about the other 95% of the time for 95% of the population.  Not worth 1 star.

Strange, MHirst: bought one of these for my father for Christmas and it looks excellent. He loves it.
