I used this cable & found out it did not work with my cambrige audio 840c cd player. but after upgrading my speakers 2 Sonus faber & upgrading my speaker cables. I Thought let me try the Russ Andrews Reference PowerKord again with the 840c.
Boy the improvement was almost shocking. I was blown away. The weight & detail & emotion was just sublime. If u got a good system u will notice this one 4 sure!!
I was fortunate enough to pick this cable up in the recent Russ Andrews sale for £155:)and am using it with my Rega Apollo 35th Anniversary CD player and I have to say the cable justifies it's price with modest equipment too.
In my opinion, the key thing this cable does is lower the noise floor which results in better pitch definition, dynamics and detail. I sat listening to Keb Mo's 'The Door' with a big smile on my face!
"Levels of detail, dynamics and clarity of sound are improved upon tenfold."
Is this literally? Are WHF suggesting a x10 improvement? If so that is some incredible accomplishment. If not of course, this is a prime example of misleading journalism that ought to be kept away from technical matters such as this. It also opens the debate of all the other terminology used to describe all the products reviewed.
