With respect,take issue with the reviewer here.
The Elite pre is a great unit, and the one of
the best preamps I ever owned. Why would the
reviewer make a judgement only when paired with
the Elite power?
Mine is paired with the 909 amp,and cannot fault
the reproduced sound in any way. With a state of
the art FM tuner (Magnum Dynalab 106t),the human
voice on radio 4 plays is 'in room',live
broadcast of classical music on radio 3 is also.
Likewise modern jazz on the Quad CD, the detail,
dynamics, instrumental timbre are a of a quality
beyond its price range.
Right tho' about the remote,unreadable in
subdued lighting, and pathetic ergonomics.
