I've had these speakers for almost a year and they have been a great buy.
When I auditioned them I was blown away with their deep controlled Bass and sweet treble. There was none of the roughness that was present in the other speakers I auditioned. This was borne out when I set them up on my system. They handle everything I throw at them with aplomb, the detail is well staged with a neutral but powerful sound.
After about 40 mins my system stops playing music and starts to sing it, and with these speakers it never becomes tiring to listen to in fact it all you can do to drag me away!!
I'd have to agree with this review.
The Quad 12Ls are a pair of very detailed speakers for the price. And they image well. But I'm afraid they just do not have the extra something needed.
Even on the end of a Naim NAP 250 (not short of excitement) I couldn't get them to sound anything but restrained. In comparison, even a pair of KEF Q-100s sounded better (although with less detail and sonic range).
So, I'll second the review. Admire, yes. Live with day-to-day, not really.

Our once-favourite Android bows down to fine rivals. Still great value, though
The EAR Yoshino V12 is a terrific integrated amplifier – it needn’t fear any rival at this price
