Can't seem to find this tv anywhere now, can only find the Panasonic TX-P42ST30B. Are there any differences between the two?
No, Panasonic often includes a 'B' on the end of its model numbers, it's exactly the same set.
A friend of mine has just bought the 46" version of this set for £550! What an absolute bargain for a TV of such high quality - can't go wrong with Panasonic!
How would you say 2d standard def (DVD) picture quality fares against the TH-37PX80 of a couple of years ago can you say? That was your 37" telly of the year which I bought on back of your review and have been delighted with. It's been faultless. But I read the Panny plasma's now have some 'blue' screen issues and odd brightness inconsistencies where the brightness is adjusted as you are watching? Have you seen this problem?
Generally the newer TVs have shown improvements in standard definition picture quality, but we don't have an old TH-37PX80 in stock to make a direct comparison with the TX-P42ST30. The 'green blob' problem on some Panasonic plasmas has been well documented in our Forums and elsewhere on the site, as you can read here:
Indeed. We're at that interesting crossover point with 2011 sets being heavily discounted as they're phased out, just before the new 2012 models arrive. But that does mean there are some great bargains to be had
Except that it's not a 2012 model. Granted it will be around for a good few months yet, but by the time the Awards comes around, the team will have tested a load of newer sets.... And so it goes on!
late reviews are becoming more commonplace recently .Understandably so,as the original prices are dropping like anchors in the sea.But to make it as level a playing field as possible, imo, they should be reviewed at release & maybe* again if there is a drastic drop like this(also happened with the VT20 50"models) & the Sony 46HX803 that was manufactured until april 2011 &,which after a few months could be gotten with accessories for a little over 1/3rd of original RRP! Surely with this Panasonic the 40"+ 2012 tv award of the year is a moot point, even at this early stage...

Next-gen gaming is a glorious reality but you’ll have to make do without some last-gen features
The original X 300 was a great power amplifier. This Signature version is clearly better
If you want an affordable 8in tablet then this is worth a look – but there are too many flaws in its performance for us to really recommend it
