As said above or below, Xbox 360 with a stand-alone Blu-Ray player is by far the better option. I found my PS3 to be just too unreliable.
It does increase the box count, but I think Microsoft is right not to include a Blu-ray drive.
Batman uses the coloured 3D glasses (apparently very well ), where as Black Ops you need a 3D tv as it displays it in side by side mode. I mentioned the software update because out of the box it will only display 3D at 720p.
No 3D ability ??? It plays Call of duty: Black Ops in side by side mode, in full 1080p too with the games software update.
Proper gamer has an xbox and a stand alone blu ray deck. People not in the know, but think they know get a ps3........ Jack of all trades, master of none as the saying goes.......
just bought the slim 360 after my old 360 developed the dreaded red ring of death (again)
the slim is a lot quieter than the old xbox and the ability to rip games is great, movie and music streaming is great through zune and smooth and quick to start. my only critisism is the touch sensative buttons on the front. This xbox is a shiny finish that attracts dust and shows it off, having to turn the power off at the socket to clean it is far from ideal really, either that or the drawer opens every time you try to wipe. But its a small price to pay for an excellent product!!!!
Ahh, just popped in here to check comments on 3D capability. Happy to see that there is already a comment stating that 'yes' there is 3D capability from a software update for CoD: Black Ops.
What is the difference between Black Ops and Batman, regarding 3D, because Batman included 3D specs and worked for both PS3, PC & Xbox. No software update needed.
Well i'm with Microsoft with this when they say " Blu Ray Just A Passing Format And Downloaded Content Is The Future " Though this maybe down to Microsoft losing the HD DVD and Blu Ray wars a few years back but i can certainly see the benefits of downloaded content . I have to say the movie streaming works better than apple's attempt which is surprising and the quality is good considering i only have a 1gig download speed .
The only real benefit for getting the slim version is that is only a little quieter , you could store your games on the older versions to with made things better but the difference isn't great , and that its more energy efficient and a few extra usb points , other than that i can't really think of much else.

This Bose is tiny, but its warm, rich bassy sound is music to our ears
The Panasonic WT600 is a very capable TV regardless of its futureproofing and 4K picture
A really enjoyable compact system on the whole, but its occasionally harsh treble raises questions of living with it long term
