My neighbour has owned one of these for 3 months now and the projector is starting to make serious noise which during quiet parts of a movie sound like a chainsaw cutting glass.
I have to admit that when I first saw the out-of-the-box picture of the SP8600 I was a little envious as the images seemed a bit sharper and the colours more vibrant than my Mitsubishi HC3800. After prolonged viewing however, I realized that the coulour are too saturated even after making some adjustments just don't seem to ever look natural.
I've had my Mitsubishi for 15 months now and haven't had a single problem, while my neighbour has had HDMI sync issues, the noisy colour wheel and recently when he stops his Blu-Ray player, the screen freezes.
InFocus are offering a warrantied repair in our part of the world, but the confidence in the brand or that the repair will make the unit run without problems is very low.
Any prospective buyer should probably do some reasearch on various forum and hear from exiting owners. It would seem there are quite a few with similar feedback.
