A fine idea but the HiSound should sound better to justify the no-frills styling

Its hiss is especially loud when paired with a low impedance earphone. It can be very annoying during a low passage of music. Although multiple music formats are supported, it has trouble of playing some FLAC, APE and high bit rated mp3, it chokes and jerks. The company claims it has a Class A amp built in. If you have seen a Class A amp, that claim makes you scratch your head. The designer basically re-shaped and reduced treble and bass, in order to make a more pleasant and smoother sound signature - it's far cry from so-called audiophile. For the retail price of $360 in US, there are better choices.
