1) I just bought these at a reduced price of $447 (Lb. 275). Are they now a five star speaker at that level?
2) What is meant by "complex rhythms trip them up"? I cannot understand what this translates to in audible terms- anyone have an example?
We usually only give 5 star ratings to products that are strong all-round performers. Even at that price these speakers would stay 4 stars.
In basic terms they didn't get our feet tapping as well as some of the competition, which made them less enjoyable to listen to.
are they Not really good for soul and rock bass?
These have gained a 4 star rating. They're good speakers. It's just that they don't quite handle rhythms with the precision of say, Acoustic Energy's 301s or Q Acoustics' Concept 20s.
I have these speakers, and have pared them with new Yamaha A-S500, Harman Kardon CD 970...they play fantastic. Although i like speakers with more sensitivity like 92db but these ones with their original 90db sound "great"...

A great amp with some notable musical skills, but it loses a star compared with its better-performing, better-specified rivals
Another admirable and attractive soundbar from LG, pipped to that fifth star by fierce competition
The large screen and punchy picture are highly attractive for this price, but you’ll have to forego the smart features and Full HD resolution
