I own this amplifier and it's so good it will make you cry. The sound it delivers through great speakers is breathtaking and beautiful. I agree, don't pair it with a Krell pre-amp. I experimented with that and wasn't feeling it for the same reasons mentioned in the review.
Tube pre-amp, or pretty much anything else? --amazing.

the Snell THX Reference cinemas were designed by Kevin Voecks to be THE best speakers in the world and suceeded as George Lucas and Tomlinson Holman accepted them into their Skywalker / THX theater, later J.R. Kipnis created the best cinema in the word and used a Snell THX Reference surround!
I had the pleasure of hearing them in the world's finest cinema -- the Kipnis Studio Standard.
Yes its IMHO,but I dare almost say its a fact that the only true perfect sound quality is that of a Snell THX Reference system!
Snell THX References towers powered by Mcintosh 4000-8000 watt amplifiers x 4 gives the absolute best sound the human ear can perceive, These £18,000 Krells, being one of the best amps in the world are probably up to the task of power the greatest speakers ever, like the Snell THX Reference towers!
