Would these DM 2/6 go well with an Audiolab 8000a?
Yes they would, although you might also want to consider amplification from Cyrus or Naim.
How would these compare to the X12's from Dynaudio?
I am looking to buy dm 2 6 or x12?
Which is best Dynaudio DM 2 6 or x12?
I am going to buy a pair of these for my rocksan caspian m1 and v-dac 2 combo, they should be major upgrade from my little q-acoustic 2010's.
An arcam a18 isn't really up to the task of driving these, is it?
Yes, the Kandy would work fine with these speakers, and no, you don't have to crank them hard to hear them at their best.
Thanks very much for your response.
Would the Roksan Kandy L111 be a suitable amp to drive these speakers?
Are they still good at lower volumes or all these at their best when cranked up?
Anyone know how these would compare with my 2005 Audience 52SEs (rrp 950 back then) ?
I promised you more considered view of the Dynaudio DM 2/6s once they had run in and here it is.
These speakers really are brilliantly balanced. The treble is never harse or dominating but is sweet and clear and volcals are delivered with such a lifelike quality that is thrilling, of course assuming the source material is of a decent quality. They handle highly compressed music with understanding and while they will certainly not hide the reduced quality they remain musical remain somewhat forgiving, but the Dynaudios do deserve full fat uncompressed audio to show their talents to the full.
When playing Maria Mena's beautiful 'Just Hold Me', her voice is delivered with all the breathy emotion and quirky tone that you could hope for. Instruments sound real and really there.
It's not just the sweet treble and transparent mid-range that make these speakers so good. Many other designs trade these qualities for a lack of lower presence but certainly not the Dynaudios.
The dramatic orchestral opening of Russell Watson's rather excellent redndition of Il Gladiatore is handled with all the thrust and detail required without at any point losing cohesion. Bass drums have great attack backed up by a remarkable depth for speakers of this size, but solid well controlled bass too.
I auditioned a few different speakers before I bought these including models from Vienna Acoustics (at a much higher price), Rega RS1s and and PMC DB1s and the Dynaudio's are, completely in my opinion, the most balanced and musical. The PMCs are good and the transmission line design offers up great bass for their size but it more position sensitive and I feel that the bass does not integrate well with the mid and trebble. The Vienna Acoustics to be just sounded far to polite and perhaps they are happiest with Classical. The Rega's for me were simply to bass light to be contenders.
That's the thing about the DM2/6s, they don't seem to have a favoured genre. They simply throw themselved enthusiastically in to whatever you ask them too and are completely even handed.
I have not found them to be overly position sensitive but it's best not to use them too close to a back wall. They are about 10" away in my setup. Dynaudio also provide foam plugs to insert in to the reflex ports to tighten up the bass further at the expense of some depth. I prefer the ports open.
It's easy to get all a bit up yourself when trying to review hi fi, and may do, so dont consider this a review, it's an opinion. Put simply, for me, these speakers have brough emotion and thrill back to music and I have had a great time re-discovering my collection.
For completeness, my system is..
Chord Rumour 2
Atacama Aurora 600
OK, this is the first part of 2 reviews. This is the 'I've just got them home, just out of the box' review.
Initial thoughts with my Naim Uniti, Wow.
I have just spend nearly 2 hours listening to these and some alternatives and loved them but getting them home was even better. Want to be slapped in the face by sonic brilliance then dont buy these. Want a pair of speakers to make you fall in love with music all over again then they are the best £535 you could spend!
So, once I'm a little less excited and have run them in you'll get a more balanced review but I feel I'm going to enjoy the running in.
Is the marantz pm7001 KI a good match for theese speakers?help me because i'm willing to buy theese.i can't test theese speakers in my town.
hello Ive got a Cyrus 8vs2 Cyrus cd6s Cyrus bi wire Cyrus interconnect copper line alpha power cables all round. clearaudio power conditioner entry level. and I'm using b+w dm603 series 2. my room is rectangle in shape. speakers firing down length of the room. positioned midway into the room. im looking for more detail in the treble and more dynamics. and a better system match. to get the best out of my Cyrus equipment. is this speaker for me. or should i avoid this dynaudio stand mount.

A seriously talented performer that has a few design issues
This is a top-notch surround package for the money. It’s a worthy alternative to the award-winning KEF R100 5.1
A great amp with some notable musical skills, but it loses a star compared with its better-performing, better-specified rivals
