Seemingly tuned with budget kit in mind, the Dalis remain solid upgrade speakers

Yes, exactly as we say in the last line of the review.

That price does not look right, only 23 quid more than the 1?

Have had my pair of Lektor 2's now for about 6 months. They are connected with Chord's Rumour 2 cable. The Lektor 2's still sound good with various types of music. For me the treble, mid and bass all sound good. Tried them against Moradunt shorts aviano 6's but the Lektor's sounded much better but it depends on taste. Also I use them close to the wall and do not seem to get any problems with boomy bass. Apart from the good sound they are front ported and look good plus don't take up much space.

Just bought these today and they are amazing and very good value for money, they are all the review says and more.Mike

I am confused.

In the Lektor 2 review you say: "Yes, they do sound just a little lively in the treble at times", in the Lektor 1 review you say: "The tonal balance (..) is even and without the top-end fizziness that some manufacturers persist in confusing with excitement."

Are these speakers so different in the top-end? I'm asking because i can buy Lektor 2's for the price of Lektor 1's, or should i stick with the Lektor 1's? They would be for a second and third room, both with Sonos ZP100, feeded with FLAC. I have Dali Helicon 400 25LE in my main set-up and adore them... Thanks for any advice!

Are these biwirable? The specs don't suggest they are and the guy at RS also said there not.

If not, does it make a great deal of difference?

After I see WHF recommendation, I decided to buy NAD C545 BEE, C326BEE & Dali Lektor 2. The system is sitting on my room for almost 4 weeks now. Even I upgrade my cabling using Chord combination (speaker: silverscreen - interconnect: crimsom - main power: power chord. And put dali on Epos Stand. As you guys see, I follow WHF recommendation to the bone.

And what the result? BIG DISAPPOINTMENT for Dali. In Jakarta, the speaker is big bang around US$590. But event with that prize I think I want to smash it. Or re-sale it.

Seriously, the top end (treble) is nowhere. Even sometimes you can not hear any treble. Eventhough, I impressed with the middle & low end.

The lesson here, TRUST YOUR OWN EAR. I trust somebody judgment & review, and for that I have to pay the consequence.

I forgot to add that both speakers have the same tweeter and the shop assistant and I were expecting similar results for the higher frequencies but with better midrange and low end for the 2's. However when it comes to sound the 1's sound far more open and detailed compared to the 2's. I feel sorry for the chap in a previous post who bought the 2's on the basis of the WHF rating and was extremely disappointed with them. I use a REL Quake to fill in the lower frequencies and am delighted with the sound from my Denon DM37DAB unit for my office. This is not my main Hi-fi but sounds great in my home office.

I've just done a back to back comparison between the Lektor 1 and 2 speakers. I've owned the Lektor 1's for over a year now and have been very very happy with them . I compared them to lots of speakers before finally settling on the Lektor 1's (as per a previous post) and I've never had any regrets. Recently I had the notion to replace them with the Lektor 2's because again WHF rates these with five stars. So I went down to my local hi-fi dealer and tested them back to back with the hope of eventually buying the 2's. Let me tell you how disappointed I was with the 2's and even the shop assistant could not believe his ears. The Lektor 1's are far superior in the higher frequencies, the treble is detailed, clear, crisp and seperation is great. The Lektor 2's have a slightly deeper low end and midrange but the 1's still sound far superior. The higher frequencies on the 2's are disappointing, not as open, detailed and clear as the 1's. I was expecting the 2's to blow away the 1's but my my how wrong I was. I will be happily keeping my Lektor 1's for years to come. They seem to be getting better and better and the sound is superb for such a small speaker. Go listen to them and be amazed because they truely deserve 5 stars. Let your ears be the judge and don't just take my word for it.
