I think you guy's have lost the plot on the Audio Engine D1 - it's a DAC not a CD player...
Given it's sound performance, connectivity flexibility for it's size, plus headlamp amp too compared to HRT Streamer is it really only 4 stars versus 5 stars for the HRT?
Is the HRT that much better sound-wise despite less features/connectivity?
Hi Julian_b, no we haven't lost the plot but I can understand your confusion. Due to the peculiarities of our content management system (don't ask ) we didn't have a dedicated section for DACs when the review was posted, so it had to go in the CD players channel. I've now moved it into DACs within Accessories. And yes, the HRT Streamer is better.
Thanks Andy for the clarification - now need to find a portable DAC that has the connectivity and features of the D1 with the sound quality of the HRT for around the same price
