I recently purchased two Bowers and Wilkins ASW608, but am considering upgrading to the ASW610 with intentions to purchase a second ASW610 in the future. I was recently told by a Magnolia salesman that the ASW610 has some serious amplifier issues, but I have read recently that the ASW610 is a great subwoofer. I am not sure what to believe. Would you recommend the upgrade? I would ultimately own two ASW610's if I went this route. I use 685's for my speakers and use my setup for most everything. I desire the bigger subwoofer for digging deeper in movies, video games, and and the occasional party.
Has anyone had any major problems since this their previous posts?
This is because if it doesnt receive any LFE for 5 minutes it goes into sleep mode. You can bypass that by putting it on On but it will stay on all the time or put it on standbt and use a 12 volt trigger cable if your receiver has one. This will ensure that it stays on when your receiver is on. Your receiver needs to hv a 12v trigger output though
Ok i have changed my Mind about the subwoofer after 2 have broken on me in the last 2 months ! , Running on the Denon 1909. Maybe iv just been unlucky or maybe its a poorly made subwoofer.
well this is my 2nd sub and wow what a good sub it is , sounds really good with movies , Can sound abit to punchy when set to loud but when the volume is setup correct the sub is perfect , goes really well with the 685. its really hard to tell you have a sub in the room . The only thing i notice when the sub is on and thats how much more bass is coming to my ears , its Fantastic , Great sub and im really happy with it.
I specified this sub as part of a B&W 685 Theatre and I drive the speakers with my Onkyo 905. Listening to Casino Royale the opening car chase sounds superb the cat was even dodging bullets!! Sky HD has never sounded as good. The sub also works well with music. If you are after a sub the B&W ASW610 will not disappoint I recommend an audition.
I have recently bought this sub. Before that I have painstakingly searched the net for all matter of reviews and opinions about it. Jasonsony735 captured the imagination of some, with the well documented project of his setup, and he also mentioned that his sub gave troubles are some time and eventually sold it. In fact if you search the net, you would get more complaints about this sub than good news (apart from What Hi-Fi's five star rating). Though this made me a bit reluctant to buy it, I pressed on nevertheless and did. As What Hi-Fi mentions, its 'no mistake'. It is really incredible how this sub can produce such scary bass. My room is 7x5meters. I run a single sub, with a pair of B&W DM602 S3 that I bought last year brand new in Dubai - last pair and still made in England. I cannot possibly imagine that anyone would or could require more bass. In fact, I feel it is almost two much for the dimensions of my room. Though setting up took a considerable amount of time as the acoustics of my room is a nightmare, after finetuning the unit I can only say that I am amazed. I had a B&W ASW650 and before than the tiny ASW300. None of these come even close to this subwoofer. For the money you could not do better, especially if you like to stick to one brand. So to clear up any confusion whether you should buy this sub (if you were interested to do so)or not, by all means do so. Some bassheads may find it does not go loud or low enough. I use it mostly for stereo music listening, but have it connected via the line input to my Yamaha RX-V1500 and the sound is equally impressive (with the B&W DM602 S3 for main and surround backs and the B&W HTM 62 center.) Fabulous!
I just bought this sub to compliment my B & W 685s and I must say, it is superb. Really punchy whilst maintaining control of the lower frequencies easily. Great for movies and especially thumping dubstep and drum and bass! Highly recommended.
I just bought this sub and I'm super satisfied. The only thing that is worrying me is that although it is set to "On" it sometimes goes to sleep mode automatically during movie playback. Is it possible that the sub has a "safe" auto-off feature and it turns off when it gets too loud?
Hi have just purchased the ASW610 subwoofer, and i can say that i'm absolutely blown away with its performance, its a solid piece of kit, i think the the walls of my living room would crumble before the sub would fail, its clearly built to perform.
I use the sub in conjunction with B&W 685 and B&W htm62, im very pleased with my purchase and highly recommend this subwoofer, at the very least you must demo it!

I run two of these and, touch wood, have had no issues at all.

Why has none mentioned BK electronics xxls400? At £420 it blows this ASW610 out of the water.
I auditioned the ASW610 against a Monitor Audio sub costing £1000 for comparision at Sevenoaks Hifi. I immediately decided on the ASW610. Enough said!
