Awards 2012 Product of the Year - Blu-ray players

It'a a pity that WHF does not see anything against this blu-ray player - maybe the reviewer should take off 3D glasses?

For this price and from such a prestigious manufacturer one may expect detachable AC cord, or at least cord longer than this (tail of length of ca 1m !). In my home cinema configuration it would not reach any socket, but thanks to Yamaha engineers (who's predicted such a situation and provided additional  AC outlets in AV receiver) I was finally able to plug it in! Thank you, YAMAHA!

(Has anybody seen "the thin layer of brushed metal on the upper face" of this machine? Read the review:

http://www.digitalversus.com/blu-ray-player/sony-bdp-s790-p12885/test.html

It seems I've purchased a budget version of this model (dedicated to poor East European markets), since my machine has only thin layer of brushed metal-looking-like glossy plastic on the upper face! Laughing out loud )

I am looking to upgrade from a Sony BDP-S370 (use for 2D) and for 3D i have been using my PS3.

Will i notice improvements with this player, especially detail, black levels and motion?

Would 3D be better on this player, and how?

Use with Epson EH-TW5900 projector.

Thanks.

This was the obvious stick-out bargain bluray of this year, the award was inevitable,Extremely well specified player at a good price.

Hi … Can anyone tell me if this box also upscales DLNA streamed videos to 1080p? Please let me know, as Sony are reluctant to answer the question….

Dear WHF, could you please comment on the video quality compared to the BDP-S760, which also has picture enhancement features? Thank you kindly.

i just dont want to shell out unless picture/sound is improved as i might as well spend the extra on assured quality from the likes of a pioneer bdp lx55/pana bdt 310,even though i could do with the twin HDMI outs.

hi folks, can the reviewer or readers/owners attest to BDMV-DVD picture quality compared to the bdp s480? also sound quality through an AVR... thanks in advance.Smile hell of a tempting price for the spec...

Hi, I'm a owner of this nice and thin BDP since last month. I can confirm you a big improvemnt in video quality and a step ahead also in sound in comparison to the s480.

thanks ellebiser. I take it your talking from first-hand experience,yeah?..you might just have swayed my decision! would WHF agree with this comparison, considering both sony bd players were reviewed here? cheers..
