Best stereo speakers £3000+, Awards 2010. Four grand is an awful lot of money to spend – but then again, the Spendor A9s are an awful lot of talented speaker
Bought a pair from Sevenoaks. Partnered with Cyrus CDXTSE, Cyrus Pre XP and NAD C370 (as power amp) and replacing Castle Severn 2 speakers.
They are, without doubt, the best addition I have ever made to my hifi. I am just loving sitting down in front of them and sinking into the music. I'm hearing detail I didn't know was on the recording. Voices sound human, cellos sound like wood, gut and horse hair and I can con people outside of my listening room that my piano playing has dramatically improved. I really feel I can now hear how the artist is expressing the music. Chamber music is intimate, rock and orchestral are sonically spectacular. Bass sounds fine to me too, I mean realistic rather than over the top. When I play Bach's Toccatta and Fugue in D Minor you can really feel those deep reverberations of the organ.
In short - absolutely fantastic. If you can make the financial case to yourself buy them.

I'm still in love with my BC1s ... if I were to replace them, the A9 would have to be my choice.
If I replaced the A6 with the A9 model, it won't be overkill placing the A6 as the L/R surrounds, would it?
