Delivers near-faultless sound for the money, but you’ll have to do without some frills

I bought one of these recently having previously owned some separates. Being a NAD owner I prefer things a little simpler, so the Teufel appealed to me. It has to be said that first experiences of the sound are not so impressive, I am not sure if this is due to it requiring a run-in or it is because you really need to play around with the tone/balance settings. Basically it sounded flat and lifeless. However on adjusting the balance, which you can do per speaker so in effect ending up with the same balance the tone changes dramatically and becomes lively, detailed and deep. It is perhaps not a system for hardcore techno heads, but for classic, pop, rock and lounge type music it really excels. As the review says you get all the thrills and none of the spills, and the bass is big and deep enough to be felt, with treble being crisp. Certainly more so than in my old NAD/Marantz mix. The speakers are extremely well made, and simply ooze quality in terms of build and sound.

The hifi unit itself is generally well made, however the CD drawer feels very cheap and is really an insult to the rest of the system.

In summary provided you have some patience and play around with the settings you will end up with a very impressive system for the money. I have had the system for about a week so still have seven to go, but so far so good. Excellent value for money and great sound.
