The reason this sub has a slower attack is due to the mass of the 12 inch drive unit. If you want a big deep bass that shakes the floor (and the 1201 does this alarmingly) you cannot expect a fast rise time (or leading edge of notes) as your reviewer put it. That is the job of your separate floorstander’s own woofers to perform as they are of lower mass. If you want attack then buy a smaller sub but in so doing you will lose the sub-sonic shake that the 1201 delivers so well due to its amplifier power and heavily engineered driver.
This speaker is overwhelmingly scary and very satisfying. Buy one if you can afford it and only, repeat only if you live in a detached house. You won’t be disappointed, you'll be blown away.
