Dont listen to billymac10 the DH800 directly passes through any video signal it receives including component. I have used xbox with component in HD with no issues. it just passes the signal to the tv. I think billy forgot to switch the little switch on the side of the xbox lead to change to HD mode.
Have got this connected to PS3 (7.l LPCM output) and to 92 inch projector and Bose 5.1 system.Quite good and accurate sound postioning. Quite good.Autocalibraton via microphone was less than 1 minute -my prev system took approx 15 min.
Only gripe is the speaker posts are bit fiddly for SONY brand. Would ideally like a HDMI upscaler built but obviously at this price unlikely to happen in a SONY receiver.
Hello, I'm new to amps but what would it mean if it can do neither video upconversion nor video scaling?
I'm backing up my blu rays to .mkv files to play through my media player and am keen to watch and hear decent quality movies. Would this be an impediment to this?
I have just purchased this unit, but I am unable to connect this to my current passive sub. Is it possible to connect this? If not can you recommend a sub to go with this. Not looking to spend too much on this though.
Was looking to pick one of these up, but as with the TV's I've been looking at I thought it best to hang on a little for 3D compatible kit. I see the STR-DH810 is now available (Play list it at a very reasonable sounding £299.99). Any chance of a review of the new Sony range of AV amps soon WHF?

Recently purchased this mean machine, cannot find no faults with it, excellent sound & video via HDMI
connections, mind you I am a big SONY fan, all my other equipment are SONY.
This unit is working through my 7.1 speaker system.
Once again great machine.

I assume at this price there are no front L & R pre outs so I can integrate it with my 2 channel system?

Does this amp work with Sky+HD and it's optical out simultaneously with the HDMI video out?

Don't buy this if you have the following desire
A) to connect a compoment Xbox - you can only play it in SD, not HD
B) it doesn't upscale non-HD broadcasts.
Otherwise it's fine.....
